The reliability of gas seals largely depend on having a continuous supply of clean and dry flushing gas. In dynamic mode, gas supply systems take process gas from a higher pressure level in the compressor, filter it and use it to flush the gas seal. This ensures effective protection of the gas seal against contaminated process gas. When the compressor is in slow-roll or a transient mode, however, the lack of flow in the machine interrupts the source of higher pressure gas. This is where EagleBurgmann RoTechBoosters come into their own. During this phase, which is highly critical for the gas seal, the RoTechBooster compresses the filtered flushing gas in the bypass of the clean gas rail of the clean gas panel and supplies it to the seal. This prevents collections of dirt deposits at the gas seal which may result in leaks or even damage. The volume of gas is monitored by a flowmeter.
