Hyperloop is revolutionising the future of high-speed ground transportation.
The VicHyper team was an interdisciplinary group powered by RMIT who competed at the SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Competition in January 2017. As the only team from the Southern Hemisphere and having been awarded the ‘Braking Subsystem Technical Excellence Award’ sign by Elon Musk, VicHyper manufactured a Hyperloop pod prototype and flew it to the states.
From 1,300 global entries, VicHyper was placed in the top 15 in world for their pod prototype and received an honourable mention for innovation at the competition.
Chat to some of the VicHyper team, see their pod prototype and experience the ride yourself through virtual reality technology.

— New Academic Street
The New Academic Street project is transforming the heart of the City campus by creating new facilities that will enable RMIT to deliver better services for students.
Our main aim in undertaking the New Academic Street project was to improve the student experience.
A carefully planned construction program has upgraded facilities into a vibrant, green, urban precinct that really matters to students. As a result the space is:
¡ Opening the campus up to the surrounding streetscape and creating light-filled laneways, glass-roofed arcades and rooftop urban spaces.
¡ Renovating the Swanston Library, doubling its capacity and providing more than 2000 study spaces across multiple floors with access to fresh air and natural light.
¡ Creating three new entrances off Swanston Street that lead into the precinct, student services and RMIT Connect, which brings all the student services into one location and provides better and more timely service to students.
¡ Providing an extra 1000 seats and a mix of innovative food, beverage and essential retail.
¡ Brand new Media Precinct which includes state-of-the-art TV studios fitted with the latest broadcast technology, 4K UHD capabilities and more – enabling a new level of industry engagement for students, community stakeholders and alumni.
Make the most of your Open Day experience by visiting New Academic Street!
Open doors at Open DayThrough world-class programs and industry connections, RMIT can open doors to all kinds of possibilities.

For help with a specific program, find an RMIT ambassador wearing a hat that matches the colour code on this legend.
Recharge zone
Take a break, give our rocking chairs a go, recharge your phone and play some fun games in our “Recharge zone”. While you’re at it, share your snaps from Open Day using hash tag #RMITOpenDay and don’t forget to let us know about your experience on campus by completing the Open Day survey. You will go in the draw to win one of three great prizes. Good luck.
