“ “We get the work because of our

RM machines“

Coldcarr Recycling Ltd.

“i guess, i have just been in the right place at the right time,” is the modest reply Barry Morrisson gives when asked about his start into the recycling business. in fact, he took a great risk founding coldcarr recycling in 2000, buying a crusher with only four days of work for it. But it worked out very well, even in the highly competitive Uk market.

Barry Morrisson, who enjoys gardening, loves football and “life in general,” runs coldcarr Recycling together with his 36-year-old son gavin. with over a decade of experience and annual production levels that exceed 200,000 tons, coldcarr has earned the reputation of being trustworthy, reliable and understanding their customers’ needs. “fair prices, being honest with people and hoping people return it and are honest with you, plus lots of hard work,” Barry gives away his key to success. “And our equipment. we get the work because of our RUBBLE MASTER machines.”

Taking pride in what you do, living the spirit of sorting things out when problems arise, living honest and upright relations with your business partners, watching your company grow and thrive – is there any better way to earn your living? no big question for Barry’s son gavin, when it was time for him to make some big decisions six years ago. After finishing his degree in business studies and commercial law, he decided to join his father in the recycling business rather than entering the world of law and justice.

Efficiency for hireLike many other recycl ing companies, coldcarr’s f irst experience with RUBBLE MASTER was a rented machine, an RM80. That quickly turned out to be just the solution the Morrissons needed, so they switched from renting to buying: “for our application, RUBBLE MASTER has the best crushers!” is how Barry explains his decision.

A rented machine is a cost-efficient way to turn recycling material into high quality material for resale or reinstatement. “Renting a machine gives our customers the chance to use it just as long as they need it,” says RUBBLE MASTER Area Sales Manager Harald windner. “we provide our customers with leading technology by the world market leader in mobile compact crushing –if buying is not the perfect solution for them at the moment.”

Coldcarr Recycling ltd.coldcarr is one of the Midlands’ leading aggregate recycling companies. The company processes all forms of recyclable aggregate into graded, reusable material. This is a more sustainable option for companies and organisations; it protects the environment and helps save money by diverting waste away from landfill. Additionally, it is an alternative to expensive primary materials and helps reduce quarrying.

what are your responsibilities at Rubble Master?i recently started my job as Business development Manager. Basically, i am responsible for growing RM business in the Uk.

would you like to tell us about your job history? Most importantly, i have always worked in the waste and recycling sectors.

what do you like most about your job?Seeing businesses grow and seeing how using our products can benefit our customers.

Talking about work – what’s your favourite place?i’m usually out and about – i try to be out of the office as much as i can, spending lots of time with customers and dealers, understanding their requirements and needs.

And what’s your favourite place when you’re not working?i like walking in the Lake district. i also like playing field hockey and i love spending time with my family’s horses!

what do you associate with “premium quality”?well-built, reliable, affordable, something with residual value. if i compared a RUBBLE MASTER machine with a car, it would be a BMw or an Audi.

“Hold yourself responsible for a higher standard than anybody expects of you.” Henry ward Beecher, congregationalist clergyman, USA (1813-1887)

Literally good work . . .

The question of quality has occupied many lay and business philosophers.

Literally good work . . . Premium quality is an integral part of the company and is inherent to all its products and services. The high level of RM quality standards is reflected in our relationship with customers and suppliers going from strength to strength over many years.

The source of our comprehensive quality philosophy is the people who work at our company. People who know and pursue clearly formulated company goals. our business partners and employees know that for every issue there is a contact partner: a name, a face. This direct approach to promoting the way people deal with each other is only possible thanks to the structure of our owner-managed company. where the management has a personal interest in best quality - and as a result the success of the company. That is the fine difference compared to a large group or companies.

Clearly defined innovation processesif you stand still, you will be overtaken. That is why RUBBLE MASTER has a clearly defined innovation process laying down how new ideas drive the company forward. inspiration comes from the expertise of our own employees. As well as from our customers. “we take our customers’ worries seriously, listen to their suggestions, take on the challenges of a globalised world, understand the markets. we turn this invaluable knowledge into technical concepts. That is the RUBBLE MASTER recipe for real innovation,” explains cEo gerald Hanisch.

Quality in the organisation You will find RUBBLE MASTER customers located in almost every continent. what unites them is the fact that they receive the same first-class service, wherever they are. for RUBBLE MASTER, this means a high level of structural input and quality in organisation. on top of that there is the necessity for exceptional multicultural competence and an in-depth understanding of the markets. Reliable, competent partners and spare parts service on location, as well as the 24-hour hotline at the headquarters in Linz, ensuring the very highest level of service quality. Regardless of in which breathtaking corner of our planet our RM customer is operating.

from garage start-up to world market leader in mobile compact crushing. A long journey, a fascinating development. “Quality is not something you can force. it comes from within,” is how the two Managing directors, gerald Hanisch and günther weissenberger, sum up the essence of the company.

Premium Quality

David Garvin, Professor of business Administration at Harvard business School developed eight dimensions of quality. They can help explain what effect quality has.

Performance: measures a product’s primary operating characteristics.

Features: refers to additional characteristics that enhance the appeal of a product or service to the user.

Reliability: evaluates the likelihood that a product will not fail within a specific time period.

Conformity: measures the precision with which the product or service meets the specified standards.

Durability: measures the length of a product’s life. This ends when it is no longer economical to operate the product.

Serviceability: assesses the speed with which the product can be put back into service when it breaks down.

Aesthetics: indicates the subjective preference of a user.

Perceived quality: the quality attributed to a product or service based on indirect measures.

WHAT IS QUALITY?

when Richard Cooper f o u n d e d C o t s w o l d Recyc l i ng l td . near b r i s t o l i n 2 0 0 1 , aggregate recycling was not a big issue in the UK. but he took his chance – and it turned out to be a good decision. Cotswold Recycling now offers up-to-date crushing and screening equipment for

a range of applications like quarry work, demolition, stabilisation, recycling, processing, screening and clearing to hire or on contract – with RUbblE MASTER by their side from the very start.

At the time, the RM60 was the best small recycling crusher available, able to produce a value end product. “At first it was difficult to get people to go for recycling. But once we proved what this fantastic machine can do, we won more and more small and medium hire contracts”, says Richard cooper as he tells about his early days in the recycling business. “High quality products, easy to use and easy to maintain, plus: the excellent support by the RUBBLE MASTER family”, he sums up the reasons why he continuously upgraded his machinery over the years. To keep up with the growing demand he is in the process of exchanging the RM 80go! currently in use with an RM 100go!, RUBBLE MASTER’s high-performance crusher that fulfils all requirements.

cotswold’s equipment enables their customers to recycle efficiently, thus reducing costs and producing a re-usable product. with the recession moving away and people recycling on site rather than mucking away, the 49-year-old company owner sees a bright future in a growing market: “we offer a good service and we do that by offering RUBBLE MASTER products.”

Advanced technology by the leading provider for mobile compact crushing and recycling is also available for hire. Demolition and recycling companies have the option to rent a RUbblE MASTER machine, for example for smaller jobs, at peak-times when more capacity is needed or to make costs more predictable. For just as long as they need it, customised for their requirements, ready to use anywhere. Renting a machine is a highly flexible, cost-efficient way to turn construction waste into reusable material.ith RUbblE MASTER by their side from the very start.

warrington-based EcY Haulmark is the north Uk’s distributor for the RUBBLE MASTER product range. Haulmark director Phil Yarwood explains why renting could be a good option: “Rented RUBBLE MASTER machines offer clear advantages: Service, maintenance, delivery and set-up are included, costs are always predictable. whether you hire or buy: The environmentally friendly machines can be used anywhere – from inner city areas to mountainous regions – for producing quality building material directly on site from natural stone or recyclable material.”

Listen to customers and understand their needs. it was that easy, the first steps in developing the mobile pre- and post-screens that took RUBBLE MASTER from the world leader in mobile compact crushing to become a complete solution provider. Service quality, innovation, sustainability and mutual trust: these were the cornerstones on which first place in the compact class was built.

Positive customer feedback, rock solid turnover, sustainable growth. what more could you ask for? RUBBLE MASTER wants more. More for RM customers, appreciation of their work, pleasure at their success.

Need vs. demandin business science, a difference is made between, on the one hand, need as a wish, desire or lacking feeling, and on the other hand, demand as a need, which can be fulfilled by the products available. The RM Team is a close-knit crew, who firmly believe in what they sell and in the advice they give. They are always ready to listen to customers’ needs and suggestions. Listening carefully and being aware of each customer’s concerns and requirements allows service personnel to compile a comprehensive offer for a premium quality solution - everything from a single source provider.

The research, development and technology team consists of over 20 people who turned a need into a demand by adding the range of RM screens to the go! series of crushers.

The complete solution for different screen applicationsfor RM customers, this means a complete range of products supplied by a single provider - from high-performance impact crushers for recycling newcomers to the ideal machine for the professional processor, and from stockpile conveyors to container-transportable and tracked mobile screens. customers with crushers and screens from RUBBLE MASTER benefit from a single contact partner for all machines. This includes RM Lifetime Support with scheduled professional service checks for every machine, and of course immediate assistance if required. “we have experienced partners close at hand and our 24-hour service hotline,” says founder and cEo gerald Hanisch by way of explaining how RUBBLE MASTER implements the best possible service. Highest quality as the minimum requirement - how does that work? “we take our customers seriously. we listen carefully. it is simply all about listening.

Established october 2012, the new RM subsidiary RUbblE M A S T E R S C H w E I Z A G i s located in peaceful Krauchthal in Switzerland. The bar has been raised up high from the beginning for the new company: customers have been used to good service and the objective of opening the subsidiary was to deliver no less than the best and further optimise the offering to better meet the needs of our customers. After just over a year, RM Switzerland can look back on a good start.

Switzerland is an important market with a sound economic basis and a thriving construction industry that greatly benefits from tourism. RUBBLE MASTER has always had a special relationship with this country. Switzerland is home to some of our very first customers and one of the first RM50 machines went to a Swiss company. The Austrian and Swiss markets also have many similarities so the decision to implement a concept based on our Austrian strategy was the next logical step.

This challenge is being taken on by Peter Schärer, who has more than 30 years‘ experience in the construction machinery industry. within a short period he found and trained personnel and, together with his team, built the whole customer service infrastructure, ensured optimum spare parts availability with the experienced spare logistics partner ALTHAUS Ag, headquartered in Ersigen, supported existing customers and has managed to convince new customers too.

Sales, service, plant hire newly-founded RM ScHwEiZ Ag offers customers sales, serv ice and plant h ire from a s ingle source. The two RM service technicians - Thomas oberli and Thomas niklaus - are responsible for providing professional service for the full range of RM products. ”our plant hire service has been well received by customers – it provides the ideal opportunity to enter the recycling business.” reports RM plant hire manager, Pascal Schärer. The machines often delivered such impressive

performance that customers then bought them on the spot. Machines for producing grit are also in high demand on the Swiss market. This is underlined by the interest expressed in the RM V550go! rotor crusher developed especially for natural rock. This machine has all the advantages of a jaw crusher, impact crusher and a mill in a single machine. looking back one year laterPeter Schärer says he doesn‘t have time to take a rest yet. Although the first year has gone very well, there is still a great deal to do. The team at RM Switzerland like to get on with the job. Everything they have achieved so far has also been confirmed with positive feedback from the customers. demanding customers who expect quality products and services in return for their loyalty.
