    1. Introduction

1.1 PurposeThe purpose of this document is to detail the steps and items that can be used to control a Philips display via

    RJ-45 port.

1.2 Definitions, Abbreviations and AcronymsPBS Professional Business SolutionsRC Remote ControlACK AcknowledgeNACK Not AcknowledgeNAV Not AvailableID Identification0xXX Hexadecimal notationRJ-45 A registered jack (RJ) is a standardized physical network interface - an eight-contact

8P8C plug (used for RJ49, RJ61 and others, but often called "RJ45" because of itsoutward resemblance to the true RJ45)

LAN Local Area NetworkTCP/IP The Internet Protocol Suite is the set of communications protocols used for the

Internet and other similar networks. It is commonly also known as TCP/IP, namedfrom two of the most important protocols in it: the Transmission Control Protocol(TCP) and the Internet Protocol (IP), which were the first two networking protocolsdefined in this standard.

DHCP The Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is an auto configurationprotocol used on IP networks.

Most computer and workstation network adapter cards have interface ports referred to as MDIports (RJ-45 pin assignments shown on the left side of the below drawing). "Uplink" ports onhubs and our displays RJ-45 connector have the same pin assignments. Most normal ports onhubs have MDI-X ports, which use pins 1 and 2 for receive, and pins 3 and 6 for transmit. Astraight cable (one that connects pin 1 to pin 1, pin 2 to pin 2, etc.) can be used to connect anMDI port (a computer) to and MDI-X port (a normal port on a hub). Obviously, to connecttwo MDI ports together, it is necessary to connect pin 1 to pin 3, pin 2 to pin 6, and so forth.

You can use the crossover RJ-45 cable to connect PC and BDL5571V together without a hub, oruse the straight RJ-45 cables to connect PC and BDL5571V together with a hub.

    4. Begin to configure and operate

4.1 LAN control port enabledBefore you can use the Microsoft IE to control BDL3245E/BDL4245E/BDL4645E, you need to go to OSD

Menu\Configuration1\LAN control port via RC to enable it first and then you can start to configure andsetup the related TCP/IP information.

    Note:

By default, this value is set to disable, that is, our display only can be controlled via COM port under thiscondition.

4.2 LAN Network SettingsThe default LAN network settings in BDL3245E/BDL4245E/BDL4645E will be followed:

    DHCP: Disable

    IP Address: 172.16.0.1

    Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0

    Default Gateway: None

You can change or setup the related LAN network settings in OSD Menu or Internet Browser, pleasemake sure to use the Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher version for the web browser (the webbrowser should be set to accept JavaScript and Cookies functions), and the TCP/IP configurations ofPC or NB and BDL3245E/BDL4245E/BDL4645E should be in the same subnet, ex.: your IP address andsubnet mask of PC or NB should be 172.16.0.x (x: 2 ~ 254) and 255.255.0.0 based on our default networksettings.

To control BDL3245E/BDL4245E/BDL4645E through Microsoft Internet Browser for the first time, pleasetype the following address in URL:

    http://172.16.0.1

At this moment, the related dialog box will pop up, the default username is admin and default passwordis0000.

    Note:

    1. In order to logon the LAN Control Webpage, please remember to disable the proxy settings first.Example Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0. In Tools->Internet Options...->Connections->LAN Settings...,

    2. If the Ethernet cable was connected to the RJ45 connector, the Green LED of RJ45 connector would be

always turned on. The Orange LED of RJ45 connector will be blinking to indicate the DATA transferring(Send/Receive).

    3. On PC side, user can open Command Prompt, and use command ping to check the network status.

Successfully pinging with the IP address of BDL3245E/BDL4245E/BDL4645E (default IPaddress:172.16.0.1) verifies that the BDL3245E/BDL4245E/BDL4645E was successfully added to yournetwork.

    4. You need to input the correct username and password and then you just can access the main page inMicrosoft Internet Explorer.

After passing the credential, you can see the main page in Microsoft Internet Brower and then you canconfigure, control and operate our display through our friendly user interface.
