    The Moral Basis of Revolution

Simouns resolve to reinvigorate his country through mass killing, reflects the anarchist

Bakunins view of revolution as creative and revitalizing,

It is necessary to renew the race! A paralytic and corrupt people has to die to give way to

another new, young, active one, full of energylet the eternal law be fulfilled!... let there be no

    hesitation, no doubts!

Christian values on life and the ideology of liberalism run counter with Anarchists and Marxists

view of revolution. Fr. Florentino thought that:

God can destroy because He can create; God Who has in His hands the reward, eternity and

future to justify, His acts and man nevers.

Good triumphs over evil in El Filibusterismo. The revolution is aborted when Isagani hurls the

bomb to the river. Father Florentino condemns the perpetrator, saying:

the glory of saving a country cannot go to him who has contributed to cause its win Error!

Hate! Only create monster, crimes, crimninalscorrupt liquid was spread more than anything! You

fomented social decay without sowing an idea.

Virtues over violence are stressed to defeat baseness and iniquity. Love and sacrifice are the 2

virtues morally acceptable and pleasing before God. Violence is condemned. Fr. Florentino warns the

government of futility of suppressing revolution and condemns the same as an pyrrhic victory

the just and the worthy have to suffer so that their ideas will become known and propagated!

There is something providential in the persecution of the tyrants.

A government is the reflection of its people. Not only are the church and government be

admonished but the people have their share of the blame. The people get the kind of government they

    deserve,

An immoral government corresponds to a demoralized people. Like master, like slave. Like

    government, like country.

Dr. Jose Rizals acceptance of his death is an example of radical-pacifism and the murder of

Ninoy Aquino are also testaments to the Filipinos unconquerable spirit when aroused by tyranny.

The Philippine Revolution: Its Necessity and Inevitability

The El Filibusterismo: There are 3 attempts to wage revolution. The First and third are plotted by

Simoun while the second is allegedly led by the student. All attempts failed. The first planned fail

because Maria Clara, who was supposed to be rescued, had died. Many innocent people were punished

and Simoun sees this opportunity to take up arms and overthrow the government. Elias become a

fugitive, Ibarra, a Filibustero and Basilio, now a militant repel is out to avenge his mefortunes.

Revolution is the ultimate expression of a peoples outrage. Elias utters a solemn prayer before

he dies, I shall die without seeing the dawn and you who shall be here to meet her, greet her and

remember those who had fallen in the night!

Andres Bonifacio, the great plebeian takes of which heightened fervour when Rizals death

overcame him. In the proclamation issued by Bonofacio, he cited untold miseries and the unjustexecution of Jose Rizal to arouse the Filipino people sense of patriotism and nationalism.

    In your memory are painted thousands of lives snuffed out by the brutal hands of Spaniards;

and the unjust murder of our beloved countryman, Jose Rizal have already opened a wound in our

hearts that will never be healed

    The Challenge

Isagani provides a model of loyalty to the Fatherland. He say, look back in the past and seethat I only worked for myself, without having done the good that I should have done for the

good of my country, then sir, each white hair will be like a thorn and instead of being proud, Ishould be ashamed of them.

Freedom must be gained. It must be deserved by the people for slaves today could be tyrants inthe future and Rizals assumption is indeed proven true. Contemporary history has shown that

some Filipino leaders and masters are even worse than foreigners.

Why give them freedom? With or without Spain they would be the same and perhaps

even worse! Why independence if the salve of today will be tyrants of tomorrow?

The Timelessness of Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo

Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo were published more than hundred years ago but the

message of Rizal remains true for todays generation in the face of a stark decay. Rizal did not pick up

arms to wage a bloody revolution but his struggle for freedom continues. If Filipinos are to carry on

Rizals revolution it is Imperative to start with ones self. The seed of freedom, liberty, dignity and unity

have been sown on Philippine soil.

Why the Revolution Failed?o Revolution in El Filibusterismo must fail to forewarn both the tyrants and the slaves of

its price. By the whole, El Filibusterismo provides the moral basis, an analysis of the

causes, effects and the inevitability of the Philippine revolution

What is wrong with Filipino and what can be done?o On his deathbed, Simoun asked Fr. Florentino, Is there a God Father? If so, then why

did he allow the revolution to fail? Fr. Florentinos reply was:

..we tolerate and become accomplices of vice; we suffer its consequences and that our

    children suffer from them too.

More than the revolution waged in the point of sword. A revolution from within is all

the more desire. Fr. Florentino exhorts the good thus:

I do not mean to say that our freedom is conquered by the swords point, the

sword plays only a little part now in modern destinies, but, yes, by being worthy of it,

elevating reason and the dignity of the individual, loving what is just, good, great, even

    dying for it.

El Filibusterismo promises God intervention in the suffering of people who

humble themselves and cry out to Him for help. God provides the weapon and idols fall,

tyrants fall like castles of cards, and freedom shines with the first dawn.
