(P4) Mr Raju had some money at first. After spending $250 on a mobile phone and $365 on a television set, he had $560

left. How much money did Mr Raju have at first?

(P5) Alex, Ben, Colin and Don went to a jungle. Each boy found a rattan. Alex’s rattan was twice as long as Ben’s. Ben’s rattan was 12 cm shorter

than Colin’s. Colin’s rattan was 15 cm longer than Don’s. Don’s rattan was 16 cm long. How long was Alex’s rattan?

16 + 15 = 31 (Colin)

31 − 12 = 19 (Ben)

19 × 2 = 38 cm (Alex)

Alex’s rattan was 38 cm long.
