Matthew will discuss different ants behavior, and how to use that knowledge to get the best control this next season.

9:25 – 10:20 am What goes into your tank should be what comes out. Your pesticide spray tank mix is an important aspect of successful applications. Jon Atkins, Simplot Partners Jon will discuss reasons why pesticides breakdown in spray tanks and what can be done to keep your tank mixes more active. He will also discuss the product labels, calibration, adjuvants, and do’s and don’ts when mixing for successful applications.

Being a Pest Control Professional includes being fundamentally sound and conscious of possible environmental risks and concerns that are here to stay. Chelle will discuss how applicators need to be stewards of pollinator protection.

3:15 – 4:10 pm The Urban/Agriculture Interface. Considerations and Mindsets for the Pesticide Applicator. Ronda Hirnyck, University of Idaho Extension Pesticide Program Coordinator. We have all had dilemmas with our pesticide applications and the public who may rely on the internet for fast information. As agricultural land becomes more urban in nature there are growing concerns and precautions that we need to keep in mind when using pesticides. Ronda will discuss how we need to be more knowledgeable and proactive than ever before regarding our products and services.

4:10 – 5:05 pm An Update on the new Federal Certification and Training Requirements for licensed applicators. Daniel Sandoval, Idaho State Department of Agriculture The time is nearing when EPA federal laws will go into effect for Certification and Training requirements for licensed applicators. Daniel will discuss key items that licensed applicators need to know to meet these EPA requirements.

Jeremy will discuss what applicators need to know regarding labeling, laws, and how they can affect your control tactics.11:10 – 12:05 pm Water Quality and Pesticides: What We Are Finding, Dr. Curtis Cooper, Idaho State Department of Agriculture The State of Idaho conducts Ground Water and Surface Water sampling in many parts of the state for pesticides. It is important that applicators stay tuned-in on what is being found from results of this testing. Dr. Cooper will go over these results and their associated concerns.
