Perennially seen as Brisbane’s most prestigious and desirable suburb, Hamilton’s attractive river position, expansive views, and distinctive natural topography carry universal appeal.

Hamilton was first settled by Europeans in the mid 1800s, with the nearby wharf serving as one of Brisbane’s main ports for half a century.

Many of the State’s most cherished heritage homes occupy striking hilltops or sit along characterful streetscapes of modern mansions, traditional Queenslanders, Victorian-style homes, and new apartment buildings.

WHY INVEST IN HAMILTON?

People are drawn to the suburb Driven by its enviable position and river orientation, Hamilton’s reputation as Brisbane’s premier suburb is enhanced by its quick CBD access, and proximity to exciting new lifestyle precincts.

Infrastructure & Investment The tightly-held riverside location grants access to Brisbane’s commuter CityCat ferries, cruise ship terminals and the flagship RiverWalk pedestrian and cycle network, and is one of the principle beneficiaries of infrastructure spending by the State Government. All of Brisbane’s major arterials are immediately accessible through the City’s expanding network of multibillion dollar tunnels, and two of the State’s principle economic drivers, the major employment hubs of the Brisbane CBD and Australia Trade Coast region, are minutes away.

Lifestyle Destinations Further increasing demand are the dynamic new riverside precincts of Newstead Riverpark and Northshore Hamilton, huge urban renewal projects that have rejuvenated valuable tracts of riverside land around the edges of Hamilton. The billion dollar-plus endeavours are promising to be the ultimate new lifestyle destinations for Brisbane as it emerges as a truly world-class city.

INFRASTRUCTURE INVESTMENT

Kingsford Smith Drive Kingsford Smith Drive is a major riverside arterial and a link between the Brisbane CBD and the Brisbane Airport. The new $4.8 billion Airport Link tunnel provides residents with an alternative route to the airport, reducing riverside congestion along Kingsford Smith.

Extensive upgrades of Kingsford Smith are planned, and promise to reduce congestion and improve traffic flow. Pedestrian and cyclist access will also be greatly improved with the addition of dedicated lanes and links to Brisbane’s RiverWalk.

Brisbane City Council’s River Edge Strategy The Rivers Edge strategy represents a new vision for the Brisbane riverfront. It includes plans to extend the RiverWalk pedestrian and cycle network through Hamilton with new pathways following Kingsford Smith Drive towards Northshore Hamilton.

The extension significantly extends the network and provides pedestrians and cyclists the means to explore the City and river all the way to the inner-western suburbs. Popular destinations like New Farm village, Oxford Street Bulimba, and Boundary Street West End are within arms reach.
