Troy City Council,I am writing this to tell you why I am in favor of a second ice surface and to sayhow it will financially benefit Troy.A skating competition was held here in July with 304 skaters competing. So whatWell, those skaters brought coaches, parents, grandparents and others. Whilethey were here for 3 4 nights, they stayed in our motels, ate at our restaurants,shopped down town and around town. They brought an enormus amount ofmoney into our city. All of this while not costing the city for security, extra policepatrol and all of the others that are needed to put on most events. The skatingclub takes care of this event with volunteers. [They did use arena personnel butthey are working there even when there are no events.]With the second ice surface, we could hold Regional Competitions, NationalCompetitions, Theater on Ice and more. All of which bring in even more people tospend money in our community than the events we are now able to hold.We have held Theater on Ice here and people love the town and facility but wecannot host another one because of the lack of accommodations in the arena,which includes a second ice surface.Hockey events will also bring in money to the community.Hobart Arena has served the area well for almost 65 years. It is time to update sowe can serve the community for another 65 years. Our future generations willthank us for the fore sight.Who knows where the next 65 years can lead us Let's keep Troy a thr ivingcommunity where people want to visit over and over.Respectfully,Regina Drieling
