The solution Addressed for success
ASOS worked with MetaPack to develop an automated solution integrated withthe company’s own order processing and fulfilment systems that was capable ofautomaticallydealingwiththenuancesofinternationalshipping.
Tobeabletocalculatethevolumetricweightrequiredforairfreight,ASOScapturesthe exact size and weight dimensions of each order at the packing bench. Thisinformation,alongwith thecountryofdestinationand theexact contentsofeachpackage – a requirement for customs documentation – is passed to MetaPackthroughanAPI.Heredecisionsabout theeligibilityofacarriercanbemade inaninstant,while the technologyautomaticallydetermines the typeofdocumentationandnumberofcopiesthatarenecessarytoaccompanytheshipment.Thecorrectdocumentsarethenprintedautomaticallyalongwiththeappropriatecarrierlabel.
