What’s That Smell? Homeowners may be totally unaware that their home has an unpleasant odor. It can be unrecognizable to them but immediately apparent to visitors upon entering the house. What happens when you have your house on the market and you can’t smell the odors?

Candles, aerosol spray or even chocolate chip cookies cannot get rid of odors. To truly eliminate odors, the source of the smell first has to be removed and then the smelly areas can be treated.

Cigarette smoke is particularly offensive. It is very common for buyers to refuse to look at a home where smoking is allowed. I have had them walk in and immediately walk out without getting past the front door. The smoke odor permeates the air, and soaks into carpet, furniture, drapes, clothing and even the building materials like dry wall and cabinets.

Pets are considered a part of the family but it is still a huge problem when the animals are not house-broken. Pet urine isn't just absorbed by the carpet but also the padding and, in some cases, the subflooring. Sometimes, the walls and floors have to be treated and sealed before painting or sealing and new floor covering installed.

Unheralded Angels!

I had heard of the Lago Vista Volunteers and knew they had

some medical equipment they shared with residents of Lago Vista. I have referred clients to them as they needed crutches in one

case and a walker in another.

Many of you know of Bill’s recent illness and surgery. Living

in a three-story condo does not make it easy to get around. When it became obvious Bill would need a hospital bed, a neighbor

suggested I call the Lago Vista Volunteers. The next day, I was fortunate to obtain a hospital bed.

This group is amazing! Not everyone knows they are here or the extent of the medical equipment they have access to. If you

need to borrow medical equipment, give me a call and I will get you in touch with the Lago Vista Volunteers.

More importantly, if you are storing medical equipment you no longer need, please think about donating it. It will help many

who need that equipment.

Lago Vista Volunteers, there were many of you involved in

getting me the needed medical items. You are angels and I truly appreciate everything you did.
