North East Derbyshire SPRING SHOW - SHOW RULESTo all exhibitors/contributors.

Any abusive language or behaviour towards show officials, animals or fellow competitors will result in expulsion from the showground and by entering this Show you agree to abide by all of the following:

1 This Show is not open to the Public.

2 All persons entering the showground must have Personal and Public Liability Insurance. The Committee will not be held responsible for any damage, loss or injury to any animal, person or property whilst on the showground. Under NO circumstances must anyone other than the Judge, Stewards, Competitors and Grooms enter the show rings.

3 In the interests of safety, excessive assistance or interference from outside the ring, will not be tolerated.

4 The Judges’ decision is final. Any objections must be made in writing, within one hour of the class/incident and handed to the Secretary with a deposit of £50.

5 The Committee reserve the right to amalgamate, cancel or divide classes as entries warrant.

6 The Committee reserve the right to return or refuse any entry made either by post or the on-line entry system.

7 Under no circumstances will/can entries be substituted and any refunds will be totally at the discretion of the Committee and will be subject to the £10 admin charge.

8 In the event of postponement all entries will be carried over to the new date unconditionally.

9 In the event of cancellation, refunds must be requested in writing and should be sent with a SAE enclosed to the Show Secretary within 28 days of the show date and will be subject to a £10 admin charge.

10 Mountain and Moorland ponies to be shown in accordance with the Breed Society rules.

11 Stallions may not be lead or ridden by children under the age of 14 years.

12 The committee reserve the right to carry out random dope testing.

13 Dishonoured cheques will incur a £10.00 admin fee and may result in entries being refused in the future.

14 All grooms when entering the rings must wear hats & be smartly dressed.

15 All riding hats should adhere to the current British standard.

16 It is the competiror’s responsibility to ensure that they are eligible for the class(es) they enter.

Entry Fees – ONLINE Entries, closing date 10th April 201 . Entries taken on Show Day.8

HOYS classes £38 before the day, £50 on the day (entry to include HOYS levy at £12.00)

RIHS classes £30before the day; £40 on the day (entry fee includes the RIHS Levy at £9.50)

All other classes – £15.00.

First Aid contribution £3.00 per entry form.

Entries on the day £18.00 Exc HOYS & RIHS. Cash only, no cheques.

In the case of cancellation a £10 administration fee will be deducted.

PRIZEMONEY: HOYS 1st £30; 2nd £20; 3rd £15. RIHS 1st £25; 2nd £15; 3rd £10.All Prizemoney must be collected on show day; otherwise it will be deemed as a donation to the Show.

NPS – Qualifying rounds are open to ponies owned by NPS members and non-members but only ponies owned by NPS qualifying and life members are eligible to qualify for the Final of the competition to be held at the NPS Summer Championship Show, 2018. NPS Qualification Cards have been reinstated, current membership cards must be shown in the ring to receive most qualifications.Riders of small stallions must be 12 years or over, riders of large stallions must be 14 years or over.Stallion Discs MUST be worn in all ridden and in-hand NPS classes, these may be from any UK society as long as they are easily identified or an NPS Stallion Disc. They MUST be worn on the bridle.NPS Silver Medal Rosette Championships. To be judged under the Rules of the NPS. If the Champion pony has previously qualified it is still entitled to the Silver Medal Rosette but the Qualification goes to the Reserve Champion pony, provided the Owner of that pony is a Member of the NPS. The Silver Medal Rosette and the Qualification can be awarded no lower than first Reserve. Qualifiers are entitled to compete in the Final of the Silver Medal Rosette Championship to be held at the NPS Summer Championship Show Ponies (UK) - The 1st ,2nd and 3rd in each qualifying class will qualify for the 2018 P(UK) Winter Classic. No membership is required to enter or compete in any Championship final.

Class 5 The NPS/Showing Classics M&M Leading Rein National Championship 2018. Open Mountain & Moorland Lead Rein, Mare or Gelding, 4 years old or over, not exceeding 122cms.

Registered in their Pure Breed Society Stud Books of Shetland, Dartmoor, Exmoor, New Forest and Welsh Section A or B. To be led by an attendant and shown in a snaffle bridle. Lead Rein to be attached to the noseband only. Rider not to have attained their 9th birthday before 1st January in the current year.

Class 6 The 201NPS/Showing Classics M&M First Ridden National Championship 8. Open Mountain & Moorland, Mare or Gelding, 4 years old or over, not exceeding 128cms. Registered in

their Pure Breed Society Stud Books of Shetland, Dartmoor, Exmoor, New Forest and Welsh Section A or B. To be shown in a snaffle bridle. Rider not to have attained their 12th birthday before 1st January in the current year.

Junior Ridden M&M Pony of the Year sponsored by Ponies Association (UK) NPS/Ryehouse Native Show Team M&M Junior Ridden Qualifier

Judges: Mrs G Simpson (Ride); Mrs S Hird (Conf)This competition is open to mares and geldings, four years old and over, to be registered in, and complying with the showing requirements of, the main body of their respective stud books. Ponies must not exceed the height limits as stipulated by the relevant Breed Societies. Partbreds are not eligible to compete. Riders and Owners must be members of their respective Breed Society, NPS, Ponies (UK), The Showing Register or BSPS.These classes will be run in accordance with the general rules as set out in the Horse of the Year Show rulebook, a copy of which can be downloaded from www.hoys.co.ukMarks will be awarded in the following way: Show, freedom of action - 50 maximum; Breed type and conformation - 50 maximum.Please note that at Horse of the Year Show riders must not compete in both the Mountain & Moorland Lead Rein/First Ridden Pony of the Year and the Junior Mountain & Moorland Pony of the Year.In the case of equality, the pony with the highest show, freedom of action mark will be deemed the winner. If there is still equality at this point, then the judges’ decision will be final.This class is a qualifying class for Horse of the Year Show, NEC, Birmingham, 3rd-7th October 2018. Qualification will not pass below 3rd place. Qualification will be verified by the Horse of the Year Show office.This is a Horse of the Year Show qualifier. Mare or Gelding, 4 years old or over, Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland, Welsh A & B ponies. Riders MUST have attained their 10th birthday before 1st of January in the current year. and NOT have attained their 14th birthday before the 1st January in the current year.

Class 8 Horse of the Year Show Junior Ridden M&M Large Breeds. Sponsored by Ponies Association (UK).

Mare or Gelding, 4 years old or over. Open to New Forest, Connemara, Fells, Dales, Highland, Welsh C & D ponies. Riders MUST have attained their 10th birthday before the 1st January in the current year and NOT have attained their 18th birthday before the 1st January in the current year.

Championship. 1st and 2nd prizewinners from classes 7 & 8 to compete.

The NPS/Dargavel M&M Young Open Ridden Pony National Championship. Judge: Mrs D Hadwen

Stallions, Mare and Geldings, 4 years old or over, registered in the main body of their respective Breed Society Stud Book. Rider any age, except stallions (see rules in section A 3.2). The owner does not have to be an NPS member for the pony to enter this competition but only ponies owned by NPS members can qualify for the final. The highest placed pony, owned by an NPS member, in each class goes forward to the final. Where this pony has already qualified the pony standing next in line, which is owned by an NPS member and has not already qualified, receives the qualification. Qualification may go no lower than third place.

Ponies may compete in this competition for one year without de-novicing.

Class 9 All Breeds. 4 Years Old.

Class 10 All Breeds. 5 Years Old.

Class 11 All Breeds. 6 Years Old.

NPS/Rosettes Direct Home Produced - wear a white armband.

Championship. 1st and 2nd prizewinners from classes 9-11 to compete. The NPS/Picton Stud M&M Novice Ridden National Championship

Judge: Mrs D HadwenStallions, Mare and Geldings, 4 years old or over, registered in the main body of their respective Breed Society Stud Book. A pony is not eligible to compete if, before 1st January in the current year, it has done any of the following:i. Won an open NPS affiliated mixed M&M Ridden class ii. Qualified for Horse of the Year Show, Olympia or RIHS Open M&M Ridden classes iii. Qualified for the M&M Novice or Intermediate Ridden final at the NPS Summer Championship show (N.B.

Ponies can compete as novices in this competition for two consecutive years provided they do not submit an entry to the final in the first year).

iv. If a pony qualifies for Horse of the Year Show, Olympia or RIHS in its second year it is immediately de-noviced and cannot compete in the Picton Final.

v. Qualified for the M&M Ridden Championship final at Olympia in previous years.

Ponies for classes 12-16 are to be shown in a snaffle bridle.

Class 12 Stallion, Mare or Gelding. 4 Years Old & over. Registered in their approved Pure Breed

Society Stud Books of Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland.

Class 13 Stallion, Mare or Gelding. 4 Years Old & over. Registered in their approved Pure Breed

Society Stud Books of Welsh Sections A or B.

Class 14 Stallion, Mare or Gelding. 4 Years Old & over. Registered in their approved Pure Breed

Society Stud Books of New Forest or Connemara.

NPS/The Minns Family M&M Ridden Silver Medal Championship.To be run under National Pony Society 201 Rules. A valid 201 membership card must be in the rider’s 8 8

possession on entering the ring and produced immediately on request by either the judge or steward.Champion and Reserve from classes 9-11, 12-16, 17 & 18 to compete for NPS Silver Medal in Ring 3 after the

Picton Championship.

The pony never to have qualified for the NPS M&M Working Hunter Pony (Horse of the Year Show or RIHS) finals before 1st January in the current year. Riders any age except for stallions (see Rules in Section A 3.2).

Class 19 Ponies not exceeding 122cms.Class 20 Ponies exceeding 122cms but not exceeding 133cms.Class 21 Ponies exceeding 133cms but not exceeding 143cms.Class 22 Ponies exceeding 143cms (with the exception of Welsh Section D and Dales for which there is no

height restriction).

Championship. 1st and 2nd prizewinners from classes 19-22 to compete.

Not before 12.30pm NPS/NAF M&M Working Hunter Pony Longines Royal International Horse Show Championship.

Judges: Mrs B McGrath (Jump); Mrs N Shuttleworth (Conf)Stallions, mares and geldings five years old or over, registered in the main body of their respective Breed Society Stud Book. Ponies may be measured at the Judge’s discretion and must be within the specified height range for their Breed. Rider any age, except stallions (see rules in Section A 3.2). Riders may only ride one pony in each class.The owner has to be a qualifying member or a life member of the NPS for the pony to enter this competition. (N.B. At the Final at Hickstead the rider must also be a NPS member). The highest placed pony in each class goes forward to the final at RIHS. Where this pony has already qualified the pony standing next inline that has not already qualified, receives the qualification. Qualification may go no lower than third place. (N.B. Qualification has to be verified by the NPS Office, within 8 weeks of qualifying the pony’s JMB height certificate must be sent to the NPS Office for validation. Entries into the Final at Hickstead are the responsibility of the owner and are made directly to RIHS).
