Designing care systems with effective patient flow is critical to the delivery of NHSScotland’s Quality Ambitions of safe, person-centred and effective health care and ensuring patients receive the right care at the right time in the right place by the right team.
Aims : The aim of the event is to bring together colleagues from across NHSScotland to share the national programme of improvement work and strategic priorities for NHS Boards including :
• Scotland leading the way in testing new models and approaches to improving patient flow :
o piloting an Optimising Patient Flow Modelo testing a Scottish Flow, Cost and Quality Programmeo reducing variation in Day Surgery across Scotlando spreading Enhanced Recovery in other specialitieso spreading non operative fracture redesign
• Exploring the relationship and interdependencies between Flow , Patient Safety and our Quality Ambitions
• Showcase best practice in improving patient flow, including:o Learning from the Health Foundation’s Flow, Cost & Quality Programme
The day will be a combination of main plenary and breakout sessions and an excellent opportunity to showcase best practice exemplars and consider how we can spread and reliably implement across NHSScotland. It will be an excellent networking opportunity for colleagues working in the field of quality improvement and whole system patient flow. As well as an opportunity to showcase your local approaches to improving patient flow and successes to date.
