andshallewithintherangespecifiednthe
applicablerawing.Thereshallbe no alter-
ationof any component beyond the pre-

4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS
4.1Sampling.
4.1.1ot. — Unlessotherwisespecified,
lotshallconsistfnotmore than500rifles
fortheinitialotand 1,000riflesoreach
subsequentlot.
4.1.2nspection sample. — The inspecter
may subjectallorpartofany lotorlotsof
componentsorassembliesosuchinspection
as he deems necessaryodeterminecompli-
ancewith,hisspecification.nlessotherwise
~
specified,nspectionamplesizesshallbe in
accordanceithStandardMIIXTD–105.
4.1.3Testsamples.— Unlessotherwise
specified,henumber oftestsamplesshallbe
asspecifiedoreachtest.
4.2Inspection.
4.2.1Contractor’s inspection. — The con-
tractorhallaintainan adequatesystemof
processing,nspection,nd lotidentification.
Onlysuchlotswhichmeettherequirements
of thisspecificationhallhc submittedfor
finalGovernmentinspection.
4.2.2rocedure. — Rifleshallbe visually
inspectedorcompletenessf manufacture,
assembly,finish,and workmanship.The
chamberandboreshalleexaminedforrust,
pits,powder fouling,urrs,and otherde-
fects.Riflesshallbe operatedby hand to
ascertainthat the finaladjustmentshave
beenmade toassureproperoperation.om-
ponentsshallbe inspectedas necessaryto
assurecompliancewith drawing require-
ments.Beforefinalacceptanceof any lot,
theinspectorhallmake whateverfinalin-
spectioneemednecessaryoassurethatthe
riflesaveundergoneallinspectionndtests
prescribedherefor,nd thattheriflesave
been thoroughlycleanedand preparedfor
shipmentas requiredby Section5.
4.3Tesk.

4.3.2Triggerpidttest.— Each riflehalf
betestedortriggerullusinga deadweight
attachedto a hookedwire.The prescribed
weightsshallbe appliedas specifiedn the
applicablerawing.The triggerhallecare-
fullycheckedfor“objectionablereep.”
4.3.3nterchangeability test.
4.3.3.1 Sample.— Ten rifleselectedythe
inspectorrom eachlotshallbe testedfor
interchangeabilityf likecomponentsand
assemblieshich are likelyto requirere-
placement.Testfrequencymay be reduced
by thecontractingfficerhen a recordof
consistentlyatisfactoryesultshas been
established.
4.3.3.2rocedure. Componentsand as-sembliesreadilydisassembleds shown in
the listto be furnishedby the procuring
agency shallbe disassembledfrom the
weapons.Componentsand assembliesfeach
kindshalle placedtogethernd mixed.The
rifleshallbe assembledwithoutfittingr
alteringny componentinany way except
thathandfittingillbe allowedon notmore
than2 oftherifles,rovidedthat,aa result,
no compouentor assemblyisrenderedun-
suitableorassemblyinotherrifles.he 10
aasembledrifleshalloperateand functionproperly.
4.3.3.3t leasttwo of the above reas-

requirementsntheendurancetest, retest
shallbe made,unlessin theopinionofthe
inspectorhefailurerfailureendicateeri-
ousdefectsntherifles,nwhichcaseretest
shallbe made onlyifauthorizedy thepro-
curingagency.In casea retestsmade,the
inspectorhallselectanotherriflefor the
purposefrom the lotunder consideration.Ifa reteetisnotmade or therifleelected
thereforfailsin theretest,helotshsllbe
rejectedubjecttoconditioningnd further
test.
4.4.5nterchangeabi2it~ retest. — Ifthe
riflesepresentingny lotfailto meet the
epecifiedequirementsin the interchange-
abilityest,helotshallbe rejectedubject
toretestftwicethenumber ofriflesswere
intheoriginalample.
5.PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY
5.1Unlessotherwisepecified,reservation,
packaging,acking,and marking.— Rifles
andsparepartsshallepreserved,ackaged,
packed,andmarked inaccordanceithpack-
aging instructionsitedon Drawing 51–
102-1A.
6.NOTES
6.1Orderingdata.— Procurementdocu-
ments shouldspecify:
(a) Title,number, and,date of this
specification.
(b) Listofinterchangeableomponente
and assemblies.See3.3).

6.2When orderingammunitionfor the
