August 26, 1993. Previously Rifka Annisa well knownAs Rifka Annisa Women Crisis Center From 20As Rifka Annisa Women Crisis Center. From 20

May2005, Rifka Annisa became Association.

This organization was established through thecourage of several women activist in Yogyakarta,

among others Suwarni Angesti Rahayu Sriamong others, Suwarni Angesti Rahayu, SriKusyuniati, Latifah Iskandar, Sitoresmi, Desti

Murdijana and Musrini Daruslan.These women

activist wanted to provide support for womensur i or of iolencesurvivor of violence

The idea to establish this organization emerged from a deep concern from a deep concern about tendencies of patriarchal culture, which pat a c a cu tu e, w c empowers men and weakens the position of women. As the impact, women are more vulnerable to get abuse vulnerable to get abuse such as rape, sexual harassment, domestic ,violence and so on.

To organize women (in particular) andcommunity (in general) to eliminate violenceagainst women, and creating a gender justice

society through the empowerment of abused women women,
