Overview

This document is provided to aid the Production Service Manager in planning an appropriate learning path for the Service Professional with a concentration on service training for Ricoh Production Print Cutsheet and Continuous Forms, mono and color products, as well as vendor Pre/Post and Wide Format products. Several learning paths are provided:

Wide Format Service Training

Pre/Post vendor training is usually delivered at the vendor’s training location or possibly on-site at the customer’s location following a system installation.

Any Production Specialist who is new in this environment should participate in a mentor or job shadowing program that will educate them on the various business processes that differ from the typical non-production print environment. Additional skills and awareness in these areas will be required. This might include the following as well as customer specific areas that may be part of a customer agreement or Statement of Work.

Service Level Agreements On-site parts management and after-hours parts ordering Preventative Maintenance and PM scheduling Escalation Process and notifications Complaint Management Process Level 2 Support Service Documentation Microcode Updates Key Operator Functions and Responsibilities

Training Course Guide & Equivalencies

Training listed as Tier 1 or Part 1 is self-paced computer-based training (CBT) while training listed as Tier 2 or Part 2 is instructor-led training (ILT) or virtual instructor-led training (VILT). Students must complete Tier1/Part1 training before attending Tier2/Part 2.

Many prerequisites list an equivalency rather than model numbers or product codes which include several and in some cases many product certifications. Below is a list of these equivalencies and a brief explanation of what they include. Details of these equivalencies can be found at the end of this document.

1 – MFP Classroom Training Equivalency: Any Ricoh B&W/Color MFP ILT course.

2 – Mid Volume Equivalency: Certification on any of the D131 family of products.

3 – Digital Color Technology Equivalency: Digital Color Basics v2, Digital Color (CBT) or Color Theory & Process for HP Printers (CBT) or Digital Color Comp Exam.

4 – Color Classroom Training Equivalency: Any Ricoh Color ILT course.

5 – High Volume/Prod Color Equivalency: Any Ricoh Production Color certification.

Hunkeler/Standard Finishing Training

To register for a Hunkeler Class date, please do the following:

1. Go to: http://www.sdmc.com/training-schedule/2. Look through the upcoming months and locate the desired class. 3. Mouse over the class and check the Availability. (If there are zero slots then the class is

closed and you will need to go to the next class date of that type.) 4. When you mouse over a class there is a “click here to enroll” option. This will take you to

the enrollment form. 5. Enter the appropriate information into the form. 6. Submit the form and this will get your technician into the class.

Tecnau Solutions Training

Tecnau does not have an electronic enrollment process currently. Please follow the steps below to register your technician into the classes they need.

1. Contact [email protected] to receive the latest Tecnau class schedules. 2. Locate the class and date that is needed for all the students that need to be enrolled. 3. Open the “Tecnau Class Enrollment Form with Workflow” attachment that is provided by

Daniel. 4. Fill out the Student Enrollment form for each student you would like to send. 5. Email these Student forms to John Orr [email protected] and CC Ron Tirone

[email protected] and Daniel Sims [email protected]. 6. Tecnau will respond with confirmation (If the class is full, they will offer an alternate class

date.)

If a Purchase Order is required, the Vendor Training Coordinator ([email protected]) will process a PO for U.S. based students only. (Note: Non-U.S. countries sending students to vendor pre/post classes in the U.S. will be responsible for their training cost. The Vendor Training Coordinator will assist with vendor training payment options on an as needed basis.)

With the proper local support along with establishing a strong mentorship program, it is expected that a Digimaster trained technician could begin supporting the InfoPrint 2000. However, an InfoPrint 2000 trained technician cannot support a Kodak Digimaster product without attending the Digimaster training first.

Besides the significant differences in the EOS Service Software when comparing the Kodak Digimaster and IP2000, below are other important systems that are vastly different between the Kodak Digimaster and the Infoprint 2000:

MFP Technology Essentials & MFP Equivalency Competency

All RAC heritage production cutsheet technicians should have met the MFP Equivalency requirements as part of their training requirements to service Ricoh cutsheet production products. This training may have included MFP Technology Essentials Part 1 and Part 2 or the previous version – Technology Essentials Tier 1 and Tier 2 (v4).

RPPS heritage technicians that have attended Ricoh product cutsheet training previously with InfoPrint will also meet the MFP Equivalency requirement.

All RPPS heritage production print continuous forms technicians will automatically be assigned the MFP Technology Essentials Part 1 course if they have not met the RLI MFP Equivalency requirements.

RPPS heritage technicians without prior training and certification on RICOH cutsheet products have been given special consideration. Because of their previous experience servicing production print continuous forms products, once the RPPS heritage technician completes the MFP Technology Essentials Part 1 course, they will be granted an exception within their student transcript and will meet the MFP Classroom Equivalency prerequisite. This will allow them to enroll into any production cutsheet course in RLI once they meet any other product specific prerequisites.

To qualify for color cutsheet production equipment training, the technician must complete the Digital Color Competency Exam or a Ricoh color classroom course. The Digital Color Basics v2 self-paced on-line course would be good preparation for that exam. The exception would be RPPS technicians with prior Ricoh or InfoPrint color classroom training and certification. If you would like access to the Digital Color Competency Exam, please contact any of the Sr. Training Managers.

Additional on-the-job training is recommended for any RPPS heritage technician that will be attending their first Ricoh production print cutsheet class.
