Uses the same lines that deliver our electricity.
Is more successful and cost effective for short distances rather than long distances.
Components needed to send data signals through transformers onto distribution lines and back to the central station can be more expensive.
Communications is slower due to limited bandwidth and one-way capabilities (data can only be transmitted from the meter to the utility).
