Key aspect is change! Asbestos responsibilities were added to the Bureau this year.

Clean Power Plan Final Rule was Issued August 3, 2015. 28 Kansas facilities impacted. Kansas must see a rate reduction from 2,319 lbs./Net

MWh in 2012 to 1,293 lbs./MWh by 2030. Staff are presently evaluating the final rule to

determine the best course of action.

EPA has promised a new ozone standard in October 2015. Summer of 2015 has been excellent so far but using 3-year average still puts a lot of the State in jeopardy.

1-hour SO2 EPA and Sierra Club reached consent decree

Consent decree finalized August 10, 2015 Requirements to be an effected unit: Unit emitting >16,000 tpy, or >2600 tpy average emission rate of ≥0.45 lbs./MWh New monitoring sites operational by January 2017 KDHE submits boundry recommendations for modeled ares in 2017 EPA designates any ne non-attainment areas based on modeling in 2017 KDHE submits boundry recommendations for new monitored nonattainment areas in 2020

Asbestos Asbestos program was brought back into the Bureau

of Air earlier this year. Manages the State program as well as NESHAP

requirements. Evaluation of funding strategies for the program is

underway.
