FIREARM SAFETY & CORE

Non-restricted and Restricted Firearms Courses are held every six to eight weeks throughout the year to assist individuals obtain their Possession and Acquisition Li-cence (PAL). CORE Courses are conducted twice annually. For more information con-tact Albert Wood. 604-940-0042.

HALL MANAGEMENT Our hall is looking good with all the renovations done during the past while and is available for rentals. So, the next time you are planning a func-tion and are wondering where to hold it, give a thought to your own club hall. The rates $350 + GST are reasonable and the hall accommodates 149 people. Built in 1904 on the land owned by the Department of National Defense, the Richmond Rifle Range was 1/2 mile wide and two miles long and allowed marksmen to practice on ranges up to 1000 yards. The range was used for recreational and tourna-ment shooting and served as a training range for soldiers until the 1930s. It even had its own station on the BC Electric Railway's Interurban line. ARCHERY, JUNE 13 WORKPARTY

"Thank you to all the dozen or so volunteers who came to our work party yesterday! We built new strings and replaced the arrow rests on the club bows. We put together new arrows and fixed up current ones. We even installed a new timing sys-tem and a bow stringing rig. We rebuilt two tar-gets. And we cleaned up the range and fixed up the bow racks and other things. We recycled one truckload of paper and removed two truckloads of garbage. And thanks for bringing snacks. Thank you! Allan Harding: At the 2015 Pan American Games! Taking the very first official shot of open training

at the Pan Am Games. My teammate Lynda Kiejko won two gold medals in the 10m and 25m events. Along with the shiny gold medals is an Olympic Games quota spot for Cana-da for Rio 2016!

My next competition will be the Canadian Nation-al Pistol Championships in Camrose, Alberta next month! Congratulations Allan, good luck with the follow-ing match. WILLIE WESTMAN—JUL. 04 1931—AUG. 04 2015. Sad to report that my long time friend and former shooting partner recently passed away. Willie and I met when we both enjoyed hand gun shooting at our former range about 40 years ago. We both took part in the Western International Pistol Competitions held at various clubs in our region as well as a few in the US. Willie was an accom-plished artist and has painted portraits of such well known people including Jim Patitson who he once worked for with the Sign-O-Lite, neon sign division. Willie designed and printed our first new range building concept along with many changes along the way. He was a long time club member and will be missed by all who knew him. I will sure miss our many get togethers that we shared for so many years. RIP Willie ! AND NOW ANOTHER MEMBER PASSES Long time club and Life member Butch Paone died Sept 13th. Butch was helping the club with our construction plans. Being in the const. trade his knowledge was most helpful. RIP Butch. (See Photo from his service next page.) PRORATED MEMBERSHIP FEES Know anyone interested in joining the club ?? We are again making pro-rated fees available to new members. Fees are based on the number of months left in our club year along with the full membership fee for the following year. Details available at the range and club hall. NEW AIR GUN / ARCHERY RANGE The City of Richmond has found a new location for our club as Sportstown BC will soon be torn down in prep. for development of the property. The new location will be 7400 River Rd. (opposite the Cadet Hall which is located on the Dike) The move should take place early in the New Year but no firm date just yet.

CLUB ANNUAL PANCAKE BREAKFAST

Members, friends, grand kids etc. are all welcome to attend. This annual event is a great time to have fun and socialize with other members, their families and friends. Everybody who attends always has a good time and you can win gifts and have a great breakfast at the Gun Club Hall. Sunday Dec. 6 at 10 AM.
