About Rhubarb Theatre

Rhubarb Theatre delivers creative, original and theatrical experiences to

entertain and stimulate imaginations of every age.

Started in November 2000 by professional actors

Philip and Kirsty Mead, Rhubarb Theatre tours

internationally with a diverse programme of

performances, street theatre, storytelling and

workshops.

Rhubarb always delight with their exciting and

original adventures and have entertained audiences

of all ages in schools, theatres, heritage sites,

festivals and arts centres. They have toured to

hundreds of venues across the UK and beyond,

taken premieres to the nationally acclaimed SPARK

Children's Festival and Sydney Contemporary Art

Gallery and have wowed the crowds at Glastonbury

Festival 2013 and 14.

The Bookworms

A CARTLOAD OF SURPRISES FOR ALL AGES AND LOCATIONS

Wriggling their way in and out of trouble, The Bookworms will be

popping-up to bring stories to life! With a rickety handcart library and

some novel ideas, surprises leap off the page wherever they roam.

Join our funny guides as they worm their way into twisty and fantastic

adventures through imaginative worlds. Rhubarb Theatre’s new festival

show is ‘bound’ to be crazy! Duration: This show is extremely

flexible and can be performed as a

30mins show or in 10mins slots

throughout your event. The characters

are also available to roam and interact

with your visitors across a site.

Ideal For: Both indoor and outdoor

locations, including heritage sites,

festivals, fairs and fun-days. With the

flexible and fun nature of the

performance the characters are ideal

for warming up crowds and

entertaining queues.

Suitable For: Ages 5 and up - children

and families who enjoy live

performance, character interaction,

mime, physical theatre, mischief and

laughter.

The Case of the Curious Suitcase FAMILY FRIENDLY STREET THEATRE

A beautiful little festival show about 3 quirky characters that meet by

chance at a train station. Where is the train? Will it arrive? As time

tick-tocks onwards the 3 accidental companions become more and

more playful, passing the time in amusing and joyful ways - who knows

what might happen next?

Full of mime, physical theatre, music and fun, this is a silly and sweet

Rhubarb Theatre street-treat for all the family!

Duration:

This show is extremely flexible and can be performed over slots between 10-

30mins. The piece is ideal for filling repeated slots throughout an event.

Ideal For: Both indoor and outdoor locations, including heritage sites, festivals,

fairs and fun-days. With its themes of arrival and anticipation it is ideal for

warming up crowds and entertaining

queues.

Walkabout Characters: BONNIE & CLYDE Bonnie & Clyde are Rhubarb Theatre’s latest hilarious masked

characters. See them zoom around your event in their gangster car,

squirting unsuspecting victims with their water pistols. Watch out for

their flirting, hi-jinks and fisticuffs.

Duration:

These characters are available to roam your event or for repeated slots between

10-30mins throughout your event. The characters are also available for a one-off

appearance of max. 30mins.

Ideal For: Both indoor and outdoor locations, including heritage sites, festivals,

fairs and fun-days. With the flexible and fun nature of the performance the 3

characters are ideal for warming up crowds and entertaining queues.

Ghost Walks

Rhubarb Theatre have created a number of ghost-walks and haunting experiences

over the last 10 years for both indoor and outdoor locations. We like to research

the area in which we’ll be working to create a bespoke walk/experience that

exactly suits your site.

Horrible History Walks and Performances

As with our ghost walks, Rhubarb Theatre will research your heritage site and

consult with your historians and experts to gain factual background information.

Then, we’ll give those facts a bit of a ‘Horrible History’ twist, to highlight the

ghastly and disgusting in a way that exactly suits younger historian’s tastes!
