Smart Curve
Under the Drawing tab with the Smart Curve tool
create a curve in the top view defining the butterfly
shape. Its important to activate the vertical symmetry
option in the command line.
1 Pipe, round caps
Then, in the Modeling tab with the Pipe, round caps
tool create a wire with a 1.5mm diameter along the
curve.

Circle
Now, with the Circle tool under the Drawing tab we
make several circles of different measurements to
define the butterflys body as shown above.
3 Trim / Auto Connect
Under the Drawing tab with the Trim tool, we can
cut the inside part of each circle, then use the Auto
Connect tool to unite all the curves into a single curve.

Butterfly Pendant
In this tutorial we will try out some of the most useful com-
mands in RhinoGold. Powerful tools such as Boolean Opera-
tions, Pipe, Bezel Studio and Revol.

Revol
Now, under the Modeling tab with the Revol tool
we can create the solid that represents the butterfly
body.
5 Arc: Start, End, Point on Arc
Under the Drawing tab with the Arc: Start, End, Point
on Arc tool define the butterfly antenna.

Pipe
Under the Modeling tab with the Pipe, round caps
Tool create the wire around the Arc, in this case
with a 1mm diameter.
7 Sphere
Still in the Modeling tab with the Sphere tool, define
the last detail of the antenna, in this case with a
2mm diameter.

Mirror: Symmetric Horizontal
The next step, under the Transform tab with the Mi-
rror: Symmetrical Horizontal tool, in the top view,
create the antenna on the other side.
9 Smart Curve
Back to the Drawing tab, with the Smart Curve tool,
define the interior of the butterfly wings.

Multiple Pipe
Now we can use Multiple Pipe, under the Modeling
tab. select every curve created in the previous step
and define a 1mm diameter.
11 Gem Studio
Under the Gems tab, with the Gem Studio tool, se-
lect the placement and sizes of the Gems to insert,
then, if needed, move them to the correct height.

Mirror: Symmetry Horizontal
We can select the Gems and under the Transform
tab choose the Mirror: Symmetric Horizontal Tool to
create the same in both sides.
13 Bezel Studio
Now its time to select all the Gems and run the
Bezel Studio command, under the Jewelery tab, to
make a bezel for each gem.

Boolean Union
Lastly, under the Modeling tab with the Boolean
Union tool unite all the parts into a single object.
