Justification:

Rhacocleis buchichii is only known from two localities, which are strongly affected by touristic

development. Although two more populations may exist, the distribution of this species is very small

and declining. Therefore, the species is assessed as Endangered.

Range Description:

Rhacocleis buchichii is endemic to Croatia. It occurs on the Adriatic islands Hvar (it: Lesina) and Brač,

maybe also on Korčula.

The species is affected by human activities at both localities. Threats are building of new roads and

tourism. Other threats are invasive species (mongooses) and ecosystem deterioration.

Habitats of this species need to be protected and further research on its distribution and population

sizes are needed.
