This realization, which had been con-

firmed so often in practice, was the reason

why SAP AG and RGU GmbH decided to

develop and implement a specific solution

for the foundry industry. This integration

solution has already been applied success-

fully in the GMH Foundry Group foundries,

at Fritz Winter Eisengießerei GmbH &Co.

KG and at KSB GmbH, and it now contin-

ues to be developed as the SAP standard

solution “All for Foundry” with the All for

One Midmarket AG.

The diversity and variety of production pro-

cedures in foundries are characterised

by linking continuous and non-continuous

processes which demand special plan-

ning systems for scheduling and produc-

tion planning such as those implemented

in the RGU OPTI system.

W In order to get the right shape for the

casting, suitable moulds (models, die

cast moulds, core boxes etc) are re-

quired which are connected directly to

the cores and casts.

W The liquid melt is produced in a com-

plex metallurgical process which re-

quires cost calculations for the charge

mixture and materials.

W The casting material and its structure

determine the properties of the casting

according to the mechanical stresses

documented in the materials database.

W The risk of waste and need for cor-rections is a particular challenge dur-

ing finishing, as many process and

environmental factors have an impact

on the moulding and casting.

»RGU has convinced us as an All for One partner. More than 25 years of experience in the foundry industry speak for themselves.«

RGU – Your partner for consulting and

programming in the foundry industry.

This integration solution combines the

strengths of both systems:

W The throughput of volume and value

flows in the leading ERP system, in

particular in commercial departments

and controlling combined with

W the comprehensive MES/PPS solutions

for foundries and similar companies

covering all production and process-

related tasks.

The planning and accounting system

ensures that:

W all typical foundry functions are provided

for and that

W complete cost transparency is achieved

just as it is when working completely

in SAP.

The SAP integration can take several forms

depending on company size and the frame-

work conditions. In the standard solution

the order process is mapped as follows:

SAP > OPTI: Master data such as accounts receivable,

creditors, cost rates/tariffs, personnell

SAP > OPTI: Material masters of sales goods (or

OPTI managed) purchased material

OPTI > SAP: Resources planning (work schedule,

parts list) and parts masters of preliminary

products

SAP > OPTI: Customer orders/delivery plans, require-

ments

OPTI > SAP: Scheduled production lots as production

orders

OPTI: Working papers, production planning,

tools management QS/QM

OPTI > SAP: Service notification, inward and outward

stock movements including retrograde

bookings

OPTI > SAP: Dispatch notification or dispatch preparation

to third party agent)

SAP > OPTI: Goods receipt by third party agent

SAP > OPTI: Delivery note and stock levels

OPTI: Inspection certificates

The solution is set up so that data is only

processed in the leading system at any one

time so there is no duplicate data process-

ing. The standard system covers support for

make-to-order customers with the relevant

production orders as well as make-to-stock

production, which use product cost collec-

tors as CO-objects. Various organisation

models are supported for handling third

party agents and subcontracting.

Other scenarios are also available for

SAP integration:

W As the integration solution is set up in

a modular format, other suitable func-

tional divisions have been implemented

(e.g. sales in OPTI, purchasing/materials

management in SAP).

W As with links to other commercial sys-

tems, the complete range of functions

in OPTI can be used (including sales,

purchasing and materials management)

in which data exchange is carried out

with SAP – FI/CO (AN, HR).

The integration platforms are SAP-PI and

RGU-OI (OPTI Interface), in which the data

is exchanged via HTTP protocol in XML

format.
