RGCON-2010 granted by Delhi Medical Council
he mascot of RGCON-2010, depicts the theme of the conference as a fusion of Greek and Hindu
mythological concepts.
The rod of Asclepius is an ancient symbol associated with the Greek God of Medicine and Healing, Asclepius. It consists of a serpent, entwined around a staff. This pierces the crab (signifying cancer), indicating, that modern medical science, has the potential to cure both male and female cancers, depicted as an symbol of ancient Hindu mythology of Ardhanarishwar - an androgynous deity composed of Lord Shiva and his consort Goddess Shakti.
This enables the patients to emerge victorious out of the clutches of the dreaded disease with structurally and functionally intact bodies. They express this victory with both arms spread out.

Dear Colleagues and Friends,
On behalf of the Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Centre (RGCI & RC), Delhi, it is our proud privilege to invite you all to our 9th Annual
th thInternational Conference “RGCON - 2010” from 26 to 28 March 2010. The theme this year is “Strategies for Preservation of Organ Structure and Function in Cancer.” The meeting promises to provide a perfect blend of various clinical specialities namely Radiation, Surgical and Medical Oncology along with the complementary role provided by the imaging specialties like Radiodiagnosis & Nuclear Medicine. This will help evolve strategies for preservation of organ structure & function, and improved quality of life without compromising the treatment outcome.
RGCON - 2010 will be perfect forum for trainees, resident and also faculty members in various oncological specialties. The first day would be devoted entirely to a workshop with emphasis on special therapeutic procedures that hold a great deal of promise. Thus the workshop “How I Do It?” promises to be a great learning opportunity of various state-of-the-art surgical and radiation oncology techniques from the experts performing these procedures. The presenters are expected to discuss the techniques using video clippings of these procedures and also elaborate the salient features involved.
Scientific sessions are designed to bring out the latest advances in the multimodal management of cancers highlighting the theme of the conference. Around 500 delegates from India, neighbouring countries and abroad are expected to attend. Orations, guest lectures, recent advances in techniques and debates will be included to encourage interaction among the delegates. Enough time would be allotted to allow a lively discussion at the end of each session. To encourage the residents and trainees unleash their thought process, “Best Interjector Prize” for each session would be awarded. The Chairpersons of each session would be entrusted with the responsibility of providing a summary and “Take Home Message” at the conclusion of the session. To further encourage the postgraduate trainees and residents to present their work, six best posters would be selected for oral presentation to compete for the three best “Most Promising Oncology Resident” awards.
In addition to the scientific program, conference attendees will have the opportunity to meet and get a glimpse of the latest products and services from a wide array of companies related to radiation, surgical, medical, radiodiagnosis and nuclear medicine that are expected to be represented at RGCON - 2010.
While in Delhi during the spring season, and especially for those on their maiden visit, please take time to explore the capital of India which has a perfect blend of historical monuments and modern amenities. With the Commonwealth Games 2010 round the corner, even those who have visited Delhi not in the very recent past, would find Delhi worth re-exploring as the city is likely to provide a surprising new look.
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we welcome you and look forward to meeting you at RGCON - 2010, so as to be an integral part of this academic fiesta.
With kind regards,
Yours sincerely,

Dear Friends,
We welcome all our corporate ambassadors to take part in RGCON-2010 and look forward to your active participation and support.
The theme of the conference, “Strategies for Preservation of Organ Structure and Function in Cancer” is directed to discuss strategies and approaches that could provide optimum treatment towards a realistic possibility of not only cure, but also a better quality of life to our patients. This has been increasingly possible with the recent developments that have taken place in all the clinical
specialities of oncology and ably supported by advanced diagnostic capabilities to help detect those early cancers where organ preservation approaches could be advocated. The meeting and its theme has therefore been justifiably endorsed by WHO, UICC, National Cancer Control Programme, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India and also all the major National Societies namely DMA, IASO, IRIA, ISMPO, ISO and SNMI.
Organization of an event of this magnitude requires your active participation and support. In this endeavour, we feel that WE here does not include only the clinicians, but also YOU all, who provide all the tools to enable us to translate our thoughts into action. It is therefore OUR collective responsibility to forge a symbiotic amalgamation to make such an event a great success.
As part of the organizing team, we therefore seek your whole hearted support and participation in this conference. A detailed list of sponsorship opportunities is available with the Conference
Secretariat. For any specific queries, please feel free to contact us.
Looking forward to your active participation and support,
With kind regards,
Yours sincerely,
