CASE STUDY Access Control combined with RFID Wandering system and Transeo-Plus software for the new social health center Ricard Fortuny

THE CLIENT

The Consortium of Social Health Vilafranca (CSSV) is an entity of a public nature, dedicated to caring for people in various fields of health and social care. The consortium works in the care of elderly people, someone’s suffering from dementia.

THE CHALLENGE

The Consortium required a system for the newest center of Vilafranca, that would, improve the security of their workers and its patients suffe-ring from dementia. The safety of the patients is one of the main focus in this work. It is primordial to avoid that patients with dementia could access emergency exits, escalators and main exit halls depending on their degree of disease.

In the meantime, this informa-tion needed to be controlled by a software had to manage the access control of workers in different areas like dressing rooms, restaurant and technical areas.

THE SOLUTION

Bioaccez has provided the Center with a network of active RFID receiver system, across 4 levels and connected to an specific Ethernet network according to the require-ments of the tender. Each receiver

is connected to a high gain and very directional antenna working at 2,4 GHz. The patients are equipped with Z-WRISTBAND tags and the workers with ACCEZ-CARD badges.One of the key points is the use of PATCH antennas to define the detection zones. At emergency exits PATCH antennas are placed in the wall or roof and even the external gates in the garden, allowing to define two circles of security for the different groups.

The Software is the TRANSEO-PLUS Bioaccez’s software, based in SQL server connected to the hospital network.

The program has 3 main functiona-lities: Assignation of tags, groups, alarms, zones, types of tag... Map vi-sualization for surveillance, and real time tracking, and alarm monitoring and physical access control.

THE BENEFITS

The combination of standard physical access control provided by the Accez-Card and Accez-Prox readers combined with powerful RFID tags, tied into the Transeo-software system offers health-care center a complete solution of its safety across the differents levels of the center, with a unique interface. With a section for statistics category, the Center could find the person’s situation. The software runs under a SQL envi-ronment and could be securely acces-sed from different client points in the network.

CASE STUDY Real time asset protection and Wandering system using active RFID for the newest hospital of Cotxeres de Borbó in Barcelona

THE CLIENT

The Consortium for Health and Social of Catalonia is an association of local authorities and providers of health and social care. The affiliated entities can access a total of 266 health centres: 42 acute hospitals, 76 Primary Care Centers, 50 social health centers , assisted 51 social care centers 10 Mental Health Centers and 37 Other (Laboratories, Diagnostic Services..). This Consortium includes the Mayor of Barcelona, and the Government of Generalitat de Catalunya.

THE CHALLENGE

The Consortium required a system for the newest Health center of Barcelona, the Hospital of Cotxeres, that would, improve the security of its equipment and its patients of the mental health center.

Its implementation should have no impact on the public’s visit experien-ce and minimal physical impact on the building that was almost finished. at the date of the tender.The alarm information needed to be real time, to be active while visitors were in the building and to be capable of producing an automated audit trail

Most of the PATCH antennas are installed “behind” the walls for aesthetic question, without affecting the detection result.At emergency exits PATCH or CIRCULAR OMNIDIRECTIONNAL antennas are placed in the wall or roof.

The Software is the SECURE-LOC Bioaccez’s software, based in web server and connected to the Edge ware.

THE BENEFITS

The combination of powerful RFID tags tied into the Secure-Loc software manager system offers Hospital a complete solution of its safety across the differents levels of the center, all within a single graphical user interface. Scoreboard section for statistics cate-gory, the Center could find the person’s situation. Hence, it allows the company to move its staff around more efficiently and effectively. The system send SMS alerts to the administrators of the soft-ware depending on certain alarm points.The software runs under a Java envi-ronment and could be securely accessed from a web browser in the network.

CASE STUDY GPS wristbands and geolocation system helps a health center in Barcelona caring for young people with mental diseases

THE CLIENT

The “Llars Mundet” Diputació de Barcelona is an entity of a public nature, dedicated to caring for people in various fields of health and social care. The social reality of towns and cities in the province of Barcelona is increasingly diverse and the needs facing people are also more complex. It is necessary, especially in a time of crisis, to diversify and strengthen the tools to make it possible for ever-yone, regardless of their personal situation and where they live, they can live with the greatest possible fullness and of equal freedom and respect.

The Department of Care for People wants to guarantee a greater welfa-re, quality of life and social cohesion, promoting services to people throug-hout their life cycle.

THE CHALLENGE

The Diputació specially in their pro-grams for supporting integration of young patients with mental diseases organises day trips with youth people that require a very special attention. The Diputació required a system based in GPS capable protecting the people based in locating the people if lost during the day trips. The system needed to be inconspicuous but at the same time very difficult to unattach for the same youth people.

THE SOLUTION

Bioaccez has provided the Health center with sets of GPS wristbands, model GS004. Those wristband have the ability to act as a GPS but also as a mobile telephone, allowing to listen for the people and even talking to him.

The wristband works with any kind of mobile telephonie SIM card.

When some people is lost, the per-sons taking care of them sends and SMS from any smartphone, and the wristband it returns in another SMS the geographical coordinates of the location plus a link to Googlemaps, so in few seconds the personal could locate where is the person.

The locating function is free, so there are no fee to pay for locating systems. the owner pays only for the consumption of the SMS in the SIM card or the line maintenance depending on the telcom operator.The wristband could also be used for other people as a mobile telephone, inclu-ding 3 buttons for calling people from the memory list.The wristband of course it works as a clock watch during normal operation.
