Fresh Food Ice Maker fan makes intermittent, buzzing noise. Over time, the fan may stop completely and the ice maker will stop producing ice.

Ice accumulation in front of the fan causes intermittent buzzing noise. Ice accumulation results from incomplete defrost and/or defrost water dripping in front of the evaporator housing. See Figure 1.

Figure 1SOLUTION Fresh Food Ice Maker fan noise and potential subsequent failure to operate is caused by ice accumulation in front of the fan. Solution focuses on elimination of ice build-up and improved defrost performance.

To eliminate and prevent ice build-up in front of the fan:• Clear the area of ice and frost. Use a hair dryer to

dry excess moisture. DO NOT use a steamer.• Remove mastic pad shown in Figure 2. This pad

can be pulled apart and removed. No tools are required.

• Ensure that the refrigerant lines are pushed all the way against the liner and that any water dripping during defrost will drop into the evaporator housing and not in front of it. See Figure 3.

• Install Seal Kit 5303918650.
