1 General Information About Setup
1.1 The Setup Program and this Documentation
The setup program installs the MTGUI user interface for the RexrothMTC 200, ISP 200 or TRANS 200 system.
The installation of the basic graphic user interface of the software andfirmware version 22VRS requires knowledge of PCs and of the operatingsystem. Settings and adjustments must be made, especially for theoptimization of the system. This requires knowledge of the operatingsystem being installed. Administrator privileges are required forinstallation.
⇒ Setup may be executed only by an experienced user with knowledgeof operating systems and with administrator privileges.
The setup program decompresses and installs the user interface and theassociated files from the CD-ROM onto your hard disk. The interfacecannot be operated without this installation. Furthermore, it is possible toupdate and uninstall the software.
⇒ Execute the setup program before using the interface.
This documentation informs you about how to install and set up theinterface on your hard disk, how to execute updates, and how to removethe interface again.
⇒ Read these installation instructions and, if necessary, additionaldocuments before you install the software.

2.2 Network Services
If you have installed the network services that are provided by theoperating system without actually being connected to a network, there willbe a long waiting time (approximately 2 to 5 seconds) when you changemenus. This is caused by system-internal timeouts. There are twopossibilities to solve this problem:
⇒ Uninstall the network services according to the Windows operatingsystem description.
– or –
⇒ Use two hardware profiles (with and without network services)according to the Windows operating system description. This willcause a selection menu to be displayed the next time that the systemis started, from which you can select a configuration with networkservices or one without. With preinstalled operator terminals, asecond hardware profile for network operation is available.
2.3 First-Time Installation of the MTGUI

3 Overview of System Configurator
3.1 Intended Use
The System Configurator is an editor that is used to describe the devicesconnected to the control PC. This is achieved by means of the deviceaddress, the device type and the description of the communication path tothe unit. The goal is to create a 1:1 image of the unit structure (known asthe system configuration) that is connected to the control PC. The systemconfiguration is stored in the control PC.
The System Configurator is used by the function interface and the userinterface (MTGUI) for the organization of communication with devicesconnected to the control PC.
3.2 Menu Structure and Data Input
The left-hand half of the screen shows a graphical representation of theconfigured units in a tree diagram. For the device selected in the tree, thecorresponding data are displayed on the right-hand side of the screen.
When entering data, for example when creating a new device or whenediting an existing device, the user is guided by an assistant. Theassistant splits the data entry into several steps.

DOK-CONTRL-INS*BOF*V22-AW03-EN-P
3.3 Installing and Calling the System Configurator
The System Configurator is installed when installing the MTGUI. TheSystem Configurator is started automatically after installation.
Note: The System Configurator is an independent program and mustbe called at least once before starting the MTGUI. The SystemConfigurator and the user interface cannot be active at thesame time. The System Configurator must be exited beforestarting the MTGUI.
The setup program creates a link to the System Configurator on thedesktop. At the same time, a link will be added in the program folderIndramat of the start menu. In both cases, the System Configurator isstarted directly by the Syscon.exe program call.
3.4 Example Scenario
If, for example, address 0 is selected on the selector switch for anMTC200-R-G2 and is connected via RS232 to COM2 of the control PC,the configuration must be entered in the System Configurator, i.e. adevice of type MTC200-R-G2, with device address 0, with acommunication address that includes the settings RS232 and COM2, etc.
If the physical configuration of a device is changed, the device must beadjusted or edited accordingly in the System Configurator. If, for example, the connection of device 0 to the control PC is modified from COM2 toCOM1, device 0 must be edited in the System Configurator. This meansthat COM1 has to be selected instead of COM2 as the channel in thecorresponding communication address.
