Deflection compensated calenderroller

Zone-related, deflection compensa-ted calender rollers allow users tomake fine adjustments to settingsfor consistent paper thickness.

Using the paper thickness measure-ments, the machine controller ge-nerates individual pressure com-mand values for each separate seg-ment of the calender roller. Thesecommand values are transferred viaa field bus system or analog to theaxis controller.

The volume flow function in theintegrated axis controller is used toclose the nip. All zone cylindersmove equally quickly via a volumeflow command value. Once contactwith the rollers occurs, the axiscontroller (Rexroth IAC-P) auto-matically switches over to pressurecontrol.

The command values for pressurecontrol are individually adjustedfor each zone cylinder and make itpossible to precisely control the power profile in the overall roll slit.

Drive-integrated safety engineering technology

A Fail Safe position of the spool en-ables the nip to open as quickly aspossible – for example in case of arip in the paper web.

By turning off the power supply orremoving the release signal, a springpresses the spool into the Fail Safeposition (A-T). The resulting largecross-sectional opening quickly re-lieves the zone cylinders.

The Rexroth IAC-P is a complete,ready-made and very compact con-troller unit consisting of a pressurecontroller, proportional valve andpressure sensor. Its use as a decen-tralized controller with CAN fieldbus makes it possible to consider-ably reduce the wiring complexity,to specify flexible command values,and to provide optimal diagnosisoptions in case of errors. It is easyto set the parameters from your PC or from an overriding controlsystem via a field bus.

In order to get a tight paper webroll on a spool at high speed at theend of the paper machine, a pressroll guides the paper web and pres-ses the carried-over air out from thewinding slit with definitive force.

Rexroth IAC-Ps provide an elegantsolution to the problem of generat-ing and controlling this force. TheRexroth IAC-P model used has upto 4 integrated pressure sensors.They permit the decentralized con-trol of pressures, forces, and volumeflows.

The area ratio of the cylinder usedcan be stored in the digital control-ler electronics. By controlling thedifferential pressure, the necessaryforce on the cylinder can be adju-sted.

The force’s command value is speci-fied by the overriding SPS eitheranalog or using a CAN bus. The bussystem facilitates diagnoses in caseof errors because error signals aretransferred to the overriding con-trol system.
