UNFAIR KING/NOBLES AND CLERGY
The King and Church both
Tax the people
Do not pay taxes
Can take property whenever they want
POOR FRENCH PEOPLE France in debt (lots of wars)
Third Estate (everyone not noble or church), pays all of the taxes
Price of food goes up because of famine
Has no say in Goverment
ESTATE GENERAL Three Estates meet to try to solve
problems
1st and 2nd Estate gang up on 3rd Estate (2 is bigger than 1)
3rd Estate makes Tennis Court Oath………..
REVOLUTION BEGINS

Wealthy, was able to attend school
Studied Military tactics from ages 9-16
NAPOLEON Very successful military
commander
Leader of French Army by 26
At one point controlled most of Europe
NAPOLEON TAKES FRANCE 1799
wins a series of wars, becomes famous
Comes to Paris, organizes a “Coup d’etat”
This is when the military over throws the government
Napoleon becomes Emperor in 1804

Other countries joins together (coalition) to fight Napoleon
