WEBINAR ONRevitalizing Horticulture through
Strategic Postharvest Interventions
Uttar BangaKrishiViswavidyalaya (UBKV) has been established in 2001 at Pundibari of Cooch Behar district
of West Bengal with a purpose to serve the farming community of remote districts North Bengal region
though imparting Education, conducting need based Research and participating in Transfer of Technology.
This University is running a research project entitle Smart curricula delivery through virtual classrooms as
Communication Linked Interface for Cultivating Knowledge and online courses under the National
Agricultural Higher Education Project (NAHEP)-1C Innovation Grant. The objectives of this project are
Leverage the Intellectual excellence beyond boundaries of a classroom/conference room through creating
facilities of Virtual Classroom/Smart Classroom, to strengthen computer labs for better access to curricula
content delivered through smart classrooms to overcome the time and space constraints and capacity
building to improve the domain knowledge. The present National Level WEBINAR is organized for in-depth
deliberation on available scientific knowledge and opportunities in Post Harvest Management System
during the on-going COVID-19 pandemic situation. To create the awareness and make a fruitful discussion
among the scientists, faculty members, post graduate students of agricultural sciences and other
stakeholders, the Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya is going to organize the present NATIONAL WEBINAR
entitled 'Revitalizing Horticulture through Strategic Post Harvest Interventions'

About the SpeakersDr. Zora Singh Centre for Crop and Food Innovation, WA State Agricultural Biotechnology

His research interest primarily focuses on Production Technology, Postharvest
Physiology, and Genetic transformation of fruit and other horticultural crops.
Development of gene transfer technology in mango: I developed successful gene
transfer and complete plant regeneration technology in mango
Dr. Asgar Ali Warsi Professor of Postharvest Physiology and Technology (Food Systems) and
Director, Centre of Excellence for Postharvest Biotechnology
University of Nottingham Malaysia.
He has established and is the Director of the internationally recognized Centre of
Excellence for Postharvest Biotechnology (CEPB) at the University of Nottingham.
His areas of specialization include Food Systems, Postharvest Technology, Food
Processing and Food Technology. He has led several National and International
projects worth more than RM 13million as PI & CI. He has around 200 numbers of
publications of which some being ranked within the “Top 25 Hottest Articles by
Science Direct”. He is the Associate Editor for Journal of Horticultural Science and
Biotechnology and Fellow of Higher Education Academy (FHEA), UK
Dr. Ram Krishna PalEx-Director, ICAR-National Research Centre on Pomegranate and
Ex-Head, Division of Post Harvest Technology
ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute.
He has served Indian Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR), India in different
capacities for over 25 yrs. Prof. Pal made remarkable contribution in PG teaching,
research and extension in the area of Post-Harvest Management of Horticultural
Produce during the past three decades. Most Significant achievement of Dr.R.K.Pal
is the transfer of technologies of Controlled Atmosphere storage of fruits and
vegetables to commercial PSU having 12000 MT CA store that benefitted the
consumers with availability of quality apples round the year.
