Welcome to the first and only Central University established in Karnataka which has been

established by the Parliament vide the Central Universities Act 2009 (No. 3-C of 2009) at

Gulbarga.

We are committed to provide you with as challenging and as complete an academic

experience as possible by adopting the choice based credit system, patterning academics on

the Schools of Study system which encourages inter and multi-disciplinary studies and research

and having in place progressive and friendly academic initiatives like continuous internal

assessment, flexible and up to date syllabi, internet connectivity and access to online journals

and e-books.

The University is presently functioning from its temporary location in the Gulbarga

University campus. Work on the construction of the first phase of the University's own campus is

nearly complete at the 621 acres site at Kadaganchi village (Aland Taluka, about 20 kms

west of Gulbarga) where we plan to shift by August 2013. Our new upcoming campus is planned

and designed on being an environment friendly, energy and water conserving and green

campus with all buildings built on a gold rating green building concept, seamless wi-fi

connectivity, various School of Studies buildings, staff quarters, guest house, hostel, library,

modern and classrooms fully equipped with modern teaching and technological aids.

As part of the University's policy of social inclusion and promoting gender equity, all girl

students belonging to the economically weaker sections, having annual income less than 6

lakhs are exempted from tuition fee and Hostel room rent upon production of income certificate

in Govt. of India format from competent authority and reservation available as per Governmentof India norms.

INFORMATION ON SALE OF PROSPECTUS AND SUBMISSION OF FORMS

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS

The hall tickets will be made available for downloading on the University's Website as per theschedule detailed above.. The University will not send the hall tickets by post. Therefore, it isthe responsibility of the candidate to download the same and appear for the examination.

The candidates will not be permitted to write the entrance examination at any other centre exceptthe centre mentioned in the hall ticket. Once the opt ion for is exerc ised, no request for anychan ge in centre wi l l be entertained.

NOTE: The University reserves the right to cancel/amend any of the examination centres which will

be decided on basis of the number of students at that centre. In the event of cancellation, thestudents will have to appear at the centre allotted by university at their own cost.

It may be noted that all those who apply may be issued Hall Tickets without verifying whether ornot they satisfy the eligibility criterion for admission to a programme. This will be finallyverified at the time of counseling and admission, if granted. The candidates are thereforeadvised to go through the Prospectus carefully and judge their eligibility before submittingtheir application forms. Despite this caution, in case the candidates do not meet the minimumeligibility criteria and still apply and appear for the entrance examination, they will do so at theirown risk and cost. At any stage if it is found that any candidate does not fulfill the minimumeligibility requirements, his/her candidature will not be considered for admission and if theadmission is granted, it shall be cancelled forthwith and fee paid, if any, will not be refunded.

SPECIAL FEATURES & FACILITIES OF THE UNIVERSITY

Foreign Students Admission & Fees

Foreign students from SAARC countries will pay the same fee as prescribed for Indian students.

RESERVATION POLICY

The University is governed by the reservation policies of the Government of India as issued and amendedfrom time to time.

The reservation policy followed by the University for the current academic year is as follows:

IN DECIDING THE ELIGIBILITY AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION FOR ENTRANCE TEST :5% relaxationin marks to SC/ST candidates and to wards of Kashmiri Migrants for deciding either minimum eligibilityconditions at the time of application or at the time of preparation of the merit list. This concession cannot beclaimed at both levels.

This is a special centre established at the Central University of Karnataka by the University GrantsCommission for undertaking - research on various aspects of Classical Kannada, to conduct shortterm courses and also to train future generation of scholars.

Objectives and academic functions of the Centre

Focus on unpublished manuscripts / inscriptions and epigraphic literature available in Orientallibraries and other repositories; Publish rare written works; Develop corpus of the texts of classicalperiod including texts of inscriptions; Conduct short term courses in the concerned disciplines and

The Department of Geography would engage in doctoral research in the broad areas of Regional

Development, Environment Conservation Policies and practices, Urban Geography, Geo-Informatics and its applications and other topics to be decided in consultation with the faculty.

DEPARTMENT OF GEOLOGY

Geology is the study of Earth our home. Geology is the study of the interacting systems of the solid

Earth with atmosphere, hydrosphere, and biosphere as they evolve through time. This program

focuses on the scientific study of the earth; the forces acting upon it; and the behaviour of the solids,

liquids and gases comprising it. You will have a thorough understanding of the earth's composition,

dynamics and history. You will learn about the origin of natural resources and energy, natural

hazards such as earthquakes, tsunamis and volcanoes. As a professional you will be concerned

with natural resources and understanding of natural and human induced changes to planet Earth.

This course offers a wide range of core courses in geology, which provide a foundation for the study

of fundamental geologic methods and problems, both in the laboratory and in the field that includes

instruction in geomorphology, sedimentology, the chemistry of rocks and soils, stratigraphy,

mineralogy, petrology, geostatistics, hydrogeology, structural geology, geophysics, geochemistry,
