CrestShop User Guide

1.1 About this Guide:

The CrestShop document is designed for users who are new to CrestShop or Shopping Portals or Web Based Applications. This document introduces you to some basic concepts of web based applications and helps you to get familiar with the CrestShop application. It describes how to access CrestShop through personal computer and a web browser to perform a wide range of e-shopping activities.

Users are not required to have any programming or software development knowledge but should be generally familiar with the use of a personal computer and web browser such as Microsoft internet explorer.

1.2 Overview:

CrestShop is a web based shopping portal where one can buy goods ranging from computer hardware such as keyboards, mouse, printers, etc, software applications on action, simulation and strategy and DVD movies. CrestShop application allows registered users to purchase products, search for products, write reviews on products. It also gives information on the best selling products, latest and special products.

Information of each product is available in different languages such as English, Deutsch and Espanol. Images of each product are available along with its review. Acceptable currencies for purchase are dollar and euro.

1.3 Core Features:

My Account:

• User can register at CrestShop site by providing details such as Personal, Company, Address and Contact information.

• Details provided are used for shipping products at customer location. • A registered user can view or change information, view orders or view or change

E mail notifications. • Logoff option is available for registered users.



Cart Contents:

• Users can view Cart Contents while shopping. Categories:

• Products are divided into categories and each category is a link. Total number of items in each category is also displayed.

• Each category has sub categories. The number of items in each sub category is also displayed.

Manufacturers:

• List of manufacturers of all items are displayed. • Selecting a manufacturer displays all its items. •

New Products for the month (Current):

• Icons of products with name and price. What’s New:

• Displays one new item at a time. Shopping Cart:

• Displays the number of items with total price. Best Sellers:

• List of ten items which are best sellers. Information:

• Displays information like shipping and returns, privacy notice, conditions of use, contact us.

Specials:

• Displays image of a special product with its price. example Reviews:

• Reviews can be written about a product and displayed one at a time on Home Page. By whom

• Its an optional field. Languages:

• Languages used are English, Deutsch and Espanol.



Currencies:

• Currencies accepted are US Dollar and Euro.

Delivery Information:

• Delivery Information consists of Shipping Address, Shipping Method, Add comments about your order and continue checkout procedure.

Payment Information:

• Payment Information consists of Billing Address, Payment Method, Add comments about your order and continues checkout procedure.

Confirmation:

• Displays Delivery Address, Products, Billing Address, Payment Method and Total Price.

Checkout:

• This option is to switch from shopping module to billing module.

1.4 Getting Started:

This document assumes that the resources needed to access the CrestShop application are available to and that you are familiar with how to use them. If you are not sure whether your system meets the requirements or how to use web browser, talk to your manager or system administrator.

1.6 Accessing CrestShop:

You can access CrestShop through a web browser.

To Log into the system:

1. Enter the CrestShop URL in the address bar of your web browser. The Home page is displayed. If the home page does not appear verify the URL or contact your system administrator. The figure below shows the home page.

1.7 Understanding the CrestShop Application:

CrestShop application consist(s) of modules such as MyAccount, Cart Contents, Catalog and Checkout. Each of these modules is related to each other. Let’s discuss each of the modules in detail:



1.8 My Account:

My Account module is used for registering a customer. Only a registered customer can purchase an item from CrestShop. This link can be found at the Top right corner area as shown in the print screen below.

On clicking the My Account Link the following page is displayed.

(This page does not appear, it is Home Page only. The Page is “Welcome Please Sign In)

Click on the continue button. You will be directed to the following page.

Fields marked as asterisk are mandatory. Enter all details and click on continue button.

The following page opens:

A message indicating that your account has been created is displayed. Click on continue button. You will be directed to the following page.

This page contains information of your Account. It has three sections. The first section is the My Account section which has the following option:

1. View or change my account information: On clicking this link you will be taken to the following page. Here you can edit your personal details such as Gender, First Name, Last Name, Date of Birth, Email address, Telephone numbers and Fax Number.

Clicking on Back Button will take you to the My Account Information Page and the changes made by you will not be updated. If you click on Continue link , changes made by you will be updated and you will be taken to the My Account Information page.

2. View or change entries in my address book:



On clicking this link you will be directed to the following page:

You can edit the address by clicking on the edit button. The following page will be displayed. Make the necessary corrections and click on update button.

Clicking on Back button will take you to the My Personal Address Book page. On My Personal Address book page you can add more address by clicking on Add Address button. The New Address Book Entry page will be displayed.

After entering the details click on continue button. The new address will be added. To return to My Account Information page click on My Account link at the top right corner area.

3. Change my account password: My Password page opens.

To change Password enter Current password, New Password and Confirm Password. Click on Continue Button.

My Account Information page open with a message indicating that the password has been changed successfully. Following is the snapshot.

Under the section My Orders one can view the orders made after shopping. If you haven’t selected any article for purchase you will get the following screen.

Click on the Back button.



Under the E mail notification section click on the link subscribe or unsubscribe from newsletters. You will be directed to this page .

Select or Unselect the General Newsletter option and click on Continue button.



On clicking the View or change my product notification list the following page is displayed.

Make the necessary updations and click on Continue.

So in My Account section we can register and can also update any field as and when required. Lets move on to the next section.

1.9 Catalog:

Click on the Catalog link at the top left corner area. Here we have the Categories section in which we have products from three different categories i.e. Hardware, Software and DVD Movies. Beside each category the number of items in each is displayed in parentheses.

Click on the Hardware category. Its subcategory will be listed and also related image links of these sub categories will be displayed in the central area. Screen shot displayed below.

The subcategory also have the number of items displayed. You can select any sub category by clicking on the link or its image. Suppose I click on the Graphics Card link\Image. I will be directed to the following page.

The screens displays the image of the Graphic card along with the product name and price. We have an option of Buy Now against each graphic card displayed. Click on the Buy now button of the item which one requires. We will be directed to the following page.

This page contains the details product description along with the available options and product image with price. To write Reviews on the product click on Reviews link.

To write Review click on Write Review button. The following page is displayed.

Your Review is the area provided for writing reviews. Rate the product as Good or Bad. Click on continue button. We will be redirected to the Reviews screen. From here we can add the product to the shopping cart by clicking on the Add to Cart link.

To purchase the product, click on Add to Cart button. The following screen is displayed.

Here we are provided with three options:

Checkout: This is for exiting the item selection section.

Continue Shopping: On clicking this option we will be directed to the Home page.

Update: On clicking this option we can delete the item from the cart.

This is the process for selecting an item for purchase. From here we can go to the billing section which we will discuss later. Returning back to the Home page we have other options such as:



1.10 Shopping Cart: This section on the top right corner provides information about the items and their number along with price in the shopping cart. This enables the customer to keep track of the items purchased. This is an automatically generated information which is non- editable.

1.11 Best Sellers: This section at the left side of the page displays a list of best selling products.

.12 Specials: This is a section just below the Best Sellers section on the left side of the page. This displays the image of a special product which keeps on changing. Product name along with the price is displayed. It has a small arrow link. On clicking this link it displays images of all the special products. Screen shot below.

On clicking the image of any product takes us to the following page.

This screen has the option for writing Reviews or Add to Cart. Returning back to the home page we have the next section.



1.13 Reviews: This section at the bottom left side displays one review about any product. The small arrow link guides us to the following page where one can read reviews written by customers on various products.

Returning back to the Home page we discuss the next section which is the Language section.



1.14 Language: This options enables customers to interact with the application in three different languages English, Deutsch and Espanola. Clicking on the flag image displays the text contents of the application the chosen language.

1.15 Currencies: The last section at the bottom left is the currencies section. Billing can be done in two different currencies – US Dollar and Euro.

1.16 Manufacturers: On the right side we have a drop down list which contains the names of all the manufacturers whose products are displayed. Selecting a manufacturer from the list displays the products of the chosen manufacturer. Screen shot below. We have selected Hewlett Packard.

1.17 What’s New: The next section on the right side on the Home page is the What’s New section which displays the new product’s image along with the product name and the price. Clicking on the image link guides us to the following page.

1.18 Quick Find: This is another section which enables the customer to search products by their name. It also has advance search option. On entering the Keyword the following screen is displayed. This screen has the option for purchasing the product.

On clicking the Advance Search link the following screen is displayed.

This screen enables the customer to search for the product on the following properties.

Categories, Manufacturers, Price From, Price To, Date From and Date To. One can also enter the search criteria.



1.19 Information: This is the last section on the right side of the home page. It has links related to Shipping and Returns, Privacy Notice , Conditions of use and Contact Us.

1.20 Billing Section:

The last section is the Billing section. When the customer has completed purchasing items and he clicks on Checkout button the following screen is displayed.

At this juncture, a registered user can enter e mail address, Password and click on Sign In to continue further. If the user is not registered he can register by clicking on the continue button which will take him to the registration form.

When a registered user signs in the Delivery Information screen is displayed.

The shipping address is found incorrect can be edited by clicking on the Change Address Button. Shipping method is to be selected and comments about the order can be added. Then click on Continue Button.

The Payment Information screen is displayed which provides options for changing Billing Address, entering Payment Method and Adding Comments about the order. Click on Continue button. We will be directed to the Confirmation screen for confirming the Delivery Address, Products, Billing Address and total price.

Click on Confirm Order. A screen displaying that the order has been confirmed is displayed with the products ordered. On clicking the Continue button we will be directed to the Home Page.
