If you’re looking for a fun and entertaining, yet super cliché chick-flick movie, When in Rome is the perfect choice. It stars Kristen Bell as Beth, a woman that has "a relationship with her job” and has a terrible relationship historic. Beth goes to Rome to her younger sister wedding where she meets Nick (Josh Duhamel), a sportswriter, and even if they really hit it off, she thinks he’s really not that into her and it leads Kristen’s character to get drunk and eventually get in the (fictional fountain) Fontana D'Amore, and get coins from it. The real story only begins when she comes back home, to New York and start to get stalked by four bizarre men: an Italian painter (Will Arnett), a 'Sausage King' (Danny DeVito), a street magician (Jon Heder) and a narcissistic male model (Dax Shepard), only to found out that they are in love with her because she took their coins from the love fountain. At the same time Nick, the sportswriter from the wedding, also reappears in her life and has to compete for Beth's attention among the four obsessives, and even though he seems like the perfect guy, he’s not perfect. Yes, he’s extremely good looking but just as clumsy and awkward. When In Rome basically screams that under some magical spell or not, being in love is clearly being under some sort of spell. It’s a fun movie, some sequences are really funny and the ending is pleasant, cliché but pleasant. The acting is okay, Kristen Bell is a great actress but in this movie there was something missing. Anjelica Huston and Danny DeVito are a few names in the movie. You cannot say that this movie is an award winner, that’s for sure. But if you look me in the face and say that it was not enjoyable at all, I’ll call you a liar. And if you if insists that When in Rome is just not great, I’ll make you listen to the soundtrack, because that’s spectacular.
