Review on “My Friend Luke, by Fernando Sorrentino”

Luke is a very shy and passive person, but he has a weird habit which is teasing others

in bus. He is having two different personalities. Whenever he rode the bus he always

purposely make trouble to others passenger. Not only that, he also pay his bus fare using a

small value of coin which obviously irritated the bus driver. He also has other weird attitude

which is he know that he hate smoke, but whenever he start getting on the bus he will light a

cigarette and end up caught in cough. But he is a totally different person when he get off the

bus.

In my opinion, the way he behave like this is due to lack of attention from people

surround him. It is clearly can be seen that he is seeking for attention whenever he rode the

bus. Besides, making other annoy or irritated seem like a pleasure to him. Furthermore, the

way his wife and son treat him also somehow affect his lifestyle. Lastly, I think by being an

annoying people who annoy everyone in buses is the way how Luke release his stress.

Based on my life, there is someone who act slightly like Luke. He real characteristic

is actually a very good, shy, passive person. But the real he is appear whenever he argue over

something. He will desperately eager to win the argument. Even though he know sometime

his point is not relevance and does not even make sense. The weirdest thing is he is the one

whom started all the argument.

There a way or step to corporate with this type of person. First is we should gave

more attention to them. To me, people like this is not a good story teller, so we need to spend

more time and ask why they behaving like this. In other words, this type of person should

seek counsellor to handle their problem. By giving more attention it slightly can help them to

overcome the stress.

What I learn from this story is do not let your pleasure control your mind. In other

word is do not do things that other won’t like and even harm yourself. Think before you

doing something. Never live in a stressful life, think positive and be optimistic in dealing

daily life problems.
