ACID BASE TITRATIONS
Review Acid Base Equilbrium & Titrations?
Bozeman Sci?
TITRATION:An analytical procedure used to determine the concentration of a sample by reacting it with a standard solution
ANALYTE:
Solution of known concentration used in titration.
TITRANT:
Substance being analyzed.EQUIVALANCE POINT:
Enough titrant added stoichiometrically react exactly with the analyte to neutralize it.The indicator changes color so you can tell the equivalance point has been reached.
ENDPOINT:
Standardization of a NaOH solution using Potassium Acid Phthalate (KHP).
STANDARDIZATION CALCULATION:
An aqueous solution of NaOH was standarized by titrating it against a sample of KHP. The chemical formula is HKC8H4O4.
Initial reading taken from the buret containing NaOH was 0.52mL and the final volume was 32.86mL.
STANDARDIZATION CALCULATION:
What is the molarity of the NaOH solution?
The reaction equation is:
HKC8H4O4 + NaOH NaKC8H4O4 + H2O
H+ + KC8H4O4 -+ Na+ + OH- Na+ +
KC8H4O4 - + H2O
H+ + OH- H2O
