Warm-up: How is sound a wave?
Objective: Students will be able to review concepts about wave properties.

Parts of a Wave Yarn Activity1. Fold your paper in half like a hot dog bun.
2. Draw a line along the fold label this line rest position.
3. Use your yarn to make a wave with at least one crest above rest position and one trough below rest position.
4. Trace the pattern of the yarn.
5. Take the yarn off the paper and set aside for later.
6. Label the following parts of a wave on your yarn wave: Crest, trough, rest position, amplitude, and wavelength. Write the definitions to these parts on the back of the paper.
7. Then create a picture with your yarn wave. The most creative gets extra credit!
8. Finally tape your yarn to your paper along the line you traced earlier. (YOU ONLY NEED A LITTLE BIT OF TAPE!!)
