1.1 Overview

Scope This procedure applies to all US Distributors, Cross Docks, Distribution Centers and third party

providers handling MillerCoors products, dunnage and cooperage.

Any and all exceptions to the requirements stated in this procedure must be approved in writing by

the MillerCoors Customer Warehouse Manager and Supply Chain Reverse Logistics Manager.

MillerCoors Reference Material

In order to ensure that all parties affiliated with this procedure manual are informed of changes in

business practices, processes or procedures, MillerCoors will, on a regular basis, provide new or

updated reference materials for all parties use. Users of this procedure manual are accountable for

ensuring that appropriate personnel have knowledge of, and are in compliance with, said reference

materials. If requested by MillerCoors, all parties must sign and return an “Acknowledgment” of

receipt to MillerCoors.

NOTE: Truck and Rail Return Dunnage General Information

Un-Loader Safety

Always be safety conscious when loading materials for return.

It is your responsibility to ensure that returned materials are properly loaded and arrive in good

condition for safe and efficient unloading.

Non-approved load back procedures may cause the materials you loaded to shift and become

unstable during transit – resulting in serious injury to the unloaders.

Sorting

Any dunnage material deemed unusable should be separated from the acceptable material. This

applies primarily to Kegs & Pallets.

Non-adherence to these procedures could result in a delayed credit or discrepancy.

Banding Information

Most of your returns need to be banded to a pallet.

Please use Plastic Banding whenever possible.

This includes all plastic, extra keg boards, corner protectors, door cores (void fillers) etc…

We request that you obtain the proper banding items/materials for your return loads within a

reasonable amount of time (1-2 months).

1.3 Incoming MillerCoors Beer Loads

Unloading Trucks/Rail (Product & Dunnage) Accurately count all incoming product and dunnage material upon unloading trailer in order to

maintain proper records.

File appropriate documentation for all incoming material or dunnage that has discrepancies with

the original bill of lading with MillerCoors Billing using a Load Error Adjustment Form

(LEAF) OR the new claims process in the new Reverse Logistics tool.

File appropriate documentation for all incoming loads that have product damages or quality

requests using an Electronic Distributor Credit Request (EDCR) OR the new claims process in

the new Reverse Logistics tool.

All significant quality issues must be reported to the Distributor Quality Hotline at 1-800-313-

2112. (reference the Distributor Standards Manual - located on Brewhouse)

Forms are located in this document (page 26) or on Brewhouse, the legacy Coors Reverse

Logistics tool, DRS, or the new Reverse Logistics Web site.

LEAF’s and EDCR’s and Claims MUST be filed within 2 weeks of receipt of the load in

question to receive proper credit

Empty trucks and railcars for return dunnage loads Distributor must ONLY load back an assigned carrier designated from their return tool.

Proper documentation (bill of lading), showing correct return location, carrier and dunnage

items, must be delivered with each dunnage load to a MillerCoors Brewery or a MillerCoors DC.

Failure to have the proper paperwork could result in a delay or total loss of credit

1/6 bbl Keg Returns

Requirements – Unloader safety 1/6 bbl Kegs

1/6 kegs must be returned on 32x40 pallets and stretch

wrapped to the pallet.

Correct

The first 2 to 3 rotations of stretch wrap should be

partially wrapped to the pallet to ensure maximum

stability during transit.

Secure all kegs on a MillerCoors plastic pallet and load

these in the nose of the trailer. Continue to stretch wrap

securely around the kegs until 5 full rotations are

complete.

If sending back more than one pallet of 1/6 kegs, stack

on top of each other in trailer no more than three tiers

high.

- DO NOT load 1/6 bbls on the rear of the trailer.

- DO NOT load 1/6 on 40x48 plastic pallets or on

wood pallets!!!

- DO NOT mix 1/6bbls and 1/4bbls on the same

pallet

Ensure kegs are properly secured and shrink wrapped to

plastic pallets before shipping, to avoid sending a load

like the image to the right.

IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT THAT ALL

PLASTIC KEG CAPS AND KEG COLLARDS

ARE REMOVED BEFORE KEGS ARE

RETURNED TO THE BREWERY.

Kegs returned with caps or collars in place cause

Tall Slim ¼ Keg Returns

Requirements – Unloader safety

Empty tall slim ¼ bbls must be returned on a plastic

32x40 pallet in a nine block, nested pattern (3x3x3 –

staggered rows as in picture). Stretch wrap the kegs

securely around the kegs until 5 full rotations are

complete. Each tier needs to be individually

wrapped. Wrapping each tier individually prevents

kegs from falling from upper tiers when wrap is

removed by the brewery at the keg line.

Correct

Incorrect – Do not use wood or 40x48 pallets

DO NOT mix Tall Slim 1/4bbls and 1/6bbls on

the same pallet.

The first 2 or 3 rotations of stretch wrap should be

partially wrapped to the base pallet (Approx 2 inches of

overlap) to prevent kegs from shifting off of the pallet

during transit.

Please return tall slim ¼ bbls with 9 kegs per pallet in

the nested pattern identified in the picture.

If sending back more than 9 tall slim ¼ bbls, after

wrapping each pallet individually, stack the tiers of

kegs no more than three tiers high.

In a multi tier stack, all tiers (2 or 3) in the stack must

be wrapped together as a unit to ensure maximum

stability during transit.

Never load tall slim ¼ bbls on the rear of the trailer

(unavoidable with full truck loads of slim kegs). Place

pallets of slim kegs in the front or middle of the trailer

for better stability during transit.

Never stack slim kegs on wood pallets or on 40x48

pallets. Only stack them on the 32x40 plastic

IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT THAT ALL

PLASTIC KEG CAPS AND KEG COLLARDS

ARE REMOVED BEFORE KEGS ARE

RETURNED TO THE BREWERY.

Kegs returned with caps or collars in place cause

washing and filling problems. Please inform your

warehouse personnel to remove all keg caps, keg

collars and debris from kegs being returned.

Keg Return Tags

Keg Return Tags are used to identify returns of full or partially full kegs.

Keg Return Tags must be secured to the neck of the keg on all Return For Credit kegs

being returned via the RL Tool or DRS

MillerCoors is replacing the keg ring with the Keg Return Tag.

o The keg tag is a 3 copy tag – the hard copy hangs on the keg, the white original

is stapled to the return paperwork (Return BOL or BRN) and returned to the

brewery, and the blue copy is for distributors to keep on file

o If you have any round keg rings at your facility, you may use those until your

inventory is depleted.

Keg Return Tags need an RK number added to the keg tag. Create a sequential 6 digit

number to assign to the keg being returned for your reference.

o This number is used to reference the physical keg at the brewery with the return

keg data entered into the system

o This number that must be entered in DRS when returning a full or partially full

keg.

Be sure that your distributor #, City, and State are listed on the Keg Tag

If you do not have any keg return tags and are returning a Return for Credit Keg, you

may use a locally prepared form.

o You will be responsible for assigning a random number to the keg that will also

be entered in DRS. MillerCoors does not assign this number.

Additional keg tags can be ordered via the MillerCoors POSConnection at

https://www.posconnection.millercoors.com. This link is on The Brewhouse under

“Sales and Marketing Tools”.

• Distributor Claims for items delivered from Shenandoah - Use Millercoors Connect • Claim categories and sub categories are very important because it impacts where the money comes

from to pay the claim. • Quality, Quantity, Transportation, Pricing and Tax are major categories for claims.

• Distributors need to provide contact information, Notes with explanation and attachments (BOL, Photos, Affidavit of disposal) to enable proper evaluation and follow up.

• All functional groups have been trained on claims evaluation for approval • Finished Goods cannot be returned for credit until first sent through as a Claim which is then approved.

Once approved the claim can be added to a dunnage return. Once product is received at the brewery it will be credited.

• Leaker and quality problem kegs can be returned with a Dunnage Return for full or tax credit. It is automatically approved when received at the brewery.

• Complete instructions can be found on ONE WAY in the Brewhouse.
