From the Pastor:
My dear friends in Christ,
Today we celebrate the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. This marks the last Sunday of the liturgical year. On this day, we contemplate the Kingship of Jesus our Redeemer. Pope Pius XI instituted the feast of Christ the King in 1925 to remind Christians that their allegiance was to their spiritual ruler in heaven as opposed to earthly supremacy claimed by dictators at that time. In our day, we need this reminder that our first allegiance must be to Christ the King, especially as we face many temptations in life. The feast has an eschatological dimension pointing to the end of time when the kingdom of Jesus will be established in all its fullness to the ends of the earth. Our Gospel today speaks of the last judgment where the righteous will be separated from the wicked. When we are judged, will we be able to say that we were part of the righteous group? St. John of the Cross said; “When the evening of this life comes, we will be judged on love." This day also leads into Advent, when the Church commemorates the arrival of the newborn king. The Liturgical Year will begin with the First Sunday of Advent, December 3.
December 8th is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, a Holy Day of Obligation. The Vigil Mass will be Thursday December 7th at 7:00 PM, on the Holy Day at 8:00 and 10:00 AM. Next Sunday we will have the right of welcoming for our RCIA candidates at the 9:30 AM Mass.
May God bless you all!
Father John

THANKS FOR GIVING
A warm and sincere thank you to all who donated food or financial assistance to our Thanksgiving Food Drive. $1,587.00 was collected for the SVDP Society along with 49 boxes and 11 turkeys which were donated to Catholic Charities. Although the economy is still hitting hard, what a great effort continues to be made on the part of our parish community. Corpus Christi really does care!
Our Shepherd and our King!
PRAYERFUL REMEMBRANCE Tomorrow, November 27th, is the 10th Anniversary of the untimely and sudden death of our beloved DEACON STANLEY OLSHEVSKI. Please remember in prayer, Deacon Stan and his wonderful, dedicated works here in Corpus Christi Church. Pray, too, for his wife, Millie and family. May God’s loving strength be with them.
THE SAINT VINCENT de PAUL SOCIETY
A Word (or two) of Thanks! In case you didn’t know it, your generous spirit has saved so many from the plight of being homeless or without the basic utilities most of us take for granted! We can’t thank the People of Corpus Christi enough, for it is you who help us help others. The work of the SVDP Society is made possible through your monthly contributions as well as your donations to the Poor Boxes in Church and our Thanksgiving Food Drive. We pray for a world where people won’t have to ask for help because it’s never easy to do so. But until then, your thoughtful giving will help us restore their dignity as much as we can. Please pray for our less fortunate neighbors, and we’ll pray for you. God bless you.
OUR SUPER 50/50 RAFFLE WINNER
A Corpus Christi Church parishioner held the winning Raffle Ticket # D01510 in the amount of $9,545.00 before taxes. Congratulations and God’s blessings to our winner! We thank everyone for their participation and for making our raffle a great success. See you next year!
