The Adult Faith Formation Ministry at St. Cecilia supports parishioners as they strive to grow closer to Christ and deepen their knowledge of the Catholic faith. We of-fer ongoing classes, one-time speaker events, missions, bible studies, and prayer groups in English and Spanish. We coordinate the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) program to assist those adults becoming Catholic. We work as well with adult Catholics who want to complete their Sacraments of initiation. This year we are glad to announce our inaugural Faith Matters Speaker Series, which will offer a program each month reflecting on what it means to be a Catholic in today’s culture. The series will kick off on Monday, September 17 at 7 pm. Spend an evening with Deacon Larry Vaclavik, M.A. Phil, M.A.T.S., as he reflects with us on the question of how we are to live our Catholic faith as voters in this year’s mid-term elections. For more than a decade, Deacon Larry has been speaking on the issues of faithful citizenship, social justice, moral theology and the great freedoms and responsibilities we cherish as citizens.
Whether you are interested in increasing your knowledge of the scripture and the Church, wanting to deepen your prayer life, learning to defend the faith, looking for community, struggling or searching, we have something for you. Please read the bulletin and go to our website for specific information about ministries and pro-grams that will be starting up again this fall.

Have you thought about becoming a Catholic?The first RCIA meeting is Tuesday, September 11 at 7 pm in the Community Center.We offer an opportunity to come together in a small group to learn more about our faith. Sessions focus on the teachings and experience of Church and prepare individuals to celebrate the Sac-raments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist during the Easter season.

Join the Choir!
Rehearsals for the St. Cecilia Choir resumed on August 29. We have 40 choir members, but our goal this year is 50! This is a great time for new members to join because we just got started for the year. Previous music experience is helpful, but certain-ly not required. Participants must simply possess a reasonably good singing voice (the ability to match and maintain pitch) and be willing to commit to the schedule. This choir is for adults and young adults from high school to the "young at heart". We sing each week at the 11:00 am Mass and rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:45 pm in the Church. Embracing Christ at Mass: How do you Partici-pate?
As the work of Christ liturgy (Mass) is also an action of his Church. It makes the Church present and manifests her as the visible sign of the communion in Christ between God and men. It engages the faithful in the new life of the community and involves the "conscious, active, and fruitful participation" of everyone.... it must be preced-ed by evangelization, faith, and conversion. It can then produce its fruits in the lives of the faithful: new life in the Spirit, involvement in the mission of the Church, and service to her unity.

Freshmen Retreat – October 12-14, Pine Cove | Columbus, TXThe freshmen retreat (October 12-14) is AWESOME! The retreat theme is Psalm 139 and the retreat is meant to build up the youth as they begin this new chapter in high school! The cost is $135 and scholarships are available for the retreat. Confirmation Retreat Registration (Nov. 2-4 or Feb. 1-3)A Confirmation Retreat is REQUIRED for all youth getting Confirmed. We offer two options for retreats so that you can choose which one works best for your youth. The St. Cecilia Nursery welcomes you and thanks you for entrusting us with your child’s care. The Nursery is a free service that opens 15 minutes before the 9:00 am, 11:00 am, and 1:00 pm Masses on Sunday for children ages four months to 5 years. The Nursery also offers childcare for church-sponsored weekday and evening events with prior reservations from the event coordinator for children ages four months to 11 years. In addition, the Nursery offers childcare for Parents Night Out. Parents Night Out is a ministry that promotes mar-riage enrichment once a month 5pm-9:30 pm. On these dates, spouses have the opportunity to have a quality one-on-one date together while their children make new friends, have fun, and are fed. Training for NEW Extra-ordinary Ministers of the Eucharist has been scheduled, and a number of op-portunities to attend will be offered. These lay ministers assist the regular ministers of the Eucharist (the ordained) with the distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ in the Eucharist to the faithful at Mass, as well as those in the hospital or the homebound.
The requirements for serving as an EMHC are:
• 18 years of age or a senior in high school.• A fully initiated Catholic.• Living a life in communion with the teachings of the Catholic Church. If married, must
be a Catholic mariage.

Summary:St. Cecilia is looking for a full-time Administrative Assistant for the Liturgy and Music Department. The Administrative Assistant works closely with the Director as well as the Liturgy and Music Staff to support them in providing organized and well-executed liturgy and music for the parish community. A well-qualified applicant will possess excellent administrative skills, intermediate to advanced computer competency, general knowledge of the Roman Catholic Liturgy as well as some music theory. Some nights and weekends will be required, with some flexibility in weekly schedule possible.Qualifications:• High School diploma/GED required• Minimum of one year experience assisting in Liturgy and Music, or similar ministry• General understanding of Roman Catholic liturgy and knowledge of music theory• Ability to communicate bilingually in English and Spanish, both in writing and orally, preferred• Or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Publisher
