He was married to Mary Harris Curtis and they had three children: Mrs. Ava 1934 t. Holley, Mrs. Sue Wilson and Johnny G. Curtis. be agr Rev. Curtis was converted August, 1931, and was licensed to the ministry in 1932. He served as pastor of Mountain Grove Baptist Church, which was part time, from 1933 to Oct. 1935. At Re' Hill. I- n the same time he was serving two other part time churches - Center Grove Baptist and I Count Poovey's Chapel. Re' In October, 1935, he left and went to pastor the First Baptist Church in Daisey, Tennessee. Rev. From Tennessee he went to Alabama and was pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Andalusia, Alabama at the time of his death. Rev. Curtis is buried in the cemetery at the First Baptist Church, Hudson, N.C. The above information was furnished by the daughter of Rev. Curtis, Mrs. Ava Holley, and wife, Mrs. Mary Curtis. Easter Sunday was indeed a record breaking day for the Alco Baptis t Church Brewton Alashybama The 144 in attendance in Sunday school was the largest group in the Churchs history and the 76 in Training Union excelled any record in the i r Training Union history The climax of the day was a special Easter music program presented by the comshybined Carol and Church Choirs A very impressive part of the progra~ was the closing at which tim e all the lights were turned out and an illuminated 6 foot eros was tHe center of attention while a soloist sang Jesus Keep Me Near The Cross Wm A Byrd Jr is tile pastor of this church
