CONFESIONES CUARESMALES

Did you know?

The Stations of the Cross began as the practice of pious pilgrims to Jerusalem who would retrace the final journey of Jesus Christ to Calvary.

Later, for the many who wanted to pass along the same route, but could not make the trip to Jerusa-lem, a practice developed that eventually took the form of the fourteen stations currently found in almost every church.

Similarly, the 150 Hail Marys that were recited for the rosary were an adaptation of the medieval monastic practice of reciting the 150 psalms in the Psalter.

Lenten confessions

“Peace be with you!” With these words, the Risen Lord greeted his frightened Apostles in the Upper Room on the day of his Resurrection. Christ repeated the words, “Peace be with you.” Then he added, “Receive the Holy Spirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them” (Jn 20:19-23).

What an extraordinary gift—the gift of divine forgiveness!

This year, prepare for Easter by receiving the Sacrament

of Reconciliation. During Lent, every Catholic Church in
