song of triumph or victory in the battle of Christ vs. Satan on this earth.

He now is going to see the final destruction of the dragon(Satan),(Satan), the sea

Why was Megiddo important?Why was Megiddo important?The key has to do with the lay of the land. Megiddo sits

near the end of a level pass, rich in springs, which slices

through the hills from the coast to the Jezreel Plain.

Ancient travelers preferred this plain: it gave them a flatstretch across most of the country (see map below). Yet

other cities too (Taanach, Yokneam, Ibleam) occupied the

Jezreel plain near the ends of passes from the coast.. What,What,

then, made Megiddo more important than the others, sothen, made Megiddo more important than the others, so

that we speak of Arthat we speak of Ar--mageddonmageddon (Hebrew for "the mound of

Megiddo"), not Ar-Taanach, Ar-Yokneam or Ar-Ibleam?

Most of the Jezreel Plain has the form of an isosceles

triangle with Mt. Tabor at the apex. Megiddo sitsMegiddo sits near thenear the

upward resulting in poor drainage. Unless special measures are

In order to control the ancient world, one had to controlMegiddo. Or in the words of Pharaoh Thutmose III (15th

century BC), "The capture of Megiddo is the capture of a

thousand cities." (Campaign of Pharaoh Thutmosis III )

Why was this particular city so important?

Answer: Megiddo sat near the end of a level pass, rich in

In view of these battles of historical significance we conclude that John

used the word symbolically to describe a great decisive spiritual battle

between the arm of Satan and the forces of God which would determine
