FACILITIES MANAGEMENT REUSE AND RECYCLING OF CORRUGATED PACKAGING OUR MOBILE STORES • Our pest management program protects wildlife by using minimally toxic substances with known antidotes, and using wildlife-safe dispensers. • Work Wear banned the use of Pyrethroid pesticides in all facilities due to their devastating toxic effects on beneficial insects such as bees and dragonflies, invertebrates, fish, and marine organisms. • Work Wear’s goal is 100% reuse and recycling of corrugated packaging materials, metal, and plastic film. • This year we began 100% recycling of mercury-containing fluorescent lighting waste. • We are constantly seeking out ways to reduce material consumption and increase the number of materials that we recycle. • Work Wear has taken aggressive strides in designing our vehicles to be more fuel efficient by reducing the weight of vehicles and on-board equipment, lowering ride height to increase aerodynamics, and choosing more fuel efficient vehicle configurations. ENERGY CONSERVATION • In 2017 Work Wear eliminated all incandescent lighting from our corporate offices. We have retrofitted our mercury- containing fluorescent lighting with energy-efficient, mercury-free LED lighting. We will also be retrofitting our retail stores, shoe mobiles and exterior signage. BUYING LOCAL • Work Wear is committed to buying locally produced goods when possible. This buying strategy saves energy by eliminating long distance transportation and also helps to support the local economies that we serve.
