Returning Students in Grades 7-12 iPad Setup Guide
This guide is ONLY for RETURNING STUDENTS in Grades 7-12.
Follow this guide to set up your iPad. Be sure to follow it from start to finish! If at any time you run into
trouble, please read through the TROUBLESHOOTING section at the end of this document.
The iPad can only be set up at home or with an accessible Wi-Fi network. Set up cannot be
performed on campus.
You will need your AD, Managed Apple ID and Google Gmail account credentials to complete
the setup. If you don't know them, please search your email for the subject: IMPORTANT MID-
PACIFIC INSTITUTE iPAD ACCOUNT INFORMATION. You may also need to check your junk mail
folder if you can't find it.
If you require further assistance, please use this form to send us a detailed description of the

SET UP Step 1: Hello!
Turn on the iPad. The power button is on the top right. Hold it down until you see the Apple logo on the screen.
Press the Home button to unlock the iPad.

SET UP Step 2: Select Language
Select English.

SET UP Step 3: Select Your Country or Region
Select United States.
Tap Set Up Manually.

SET UP Step 4: Choose a Wi-Fi Network
Next, connect to a Wi-Fi network that you have access to.
A list of available Wi-Fi networks will appear. Tap the network to access.

SET UP Step 5: Mid-Pacific Configuration
We must now allow Mid-Pacific Institute to configure our iPad automatically.
Tap Next.

SET UP Step 6: Log In with (AD) Computer Account
Next, you'll need your AD computer account username and password.
1. Sign in with your computer account (AD). NOTE: The AD account does not include @student.midpac.edu in the username.
2. Tap Next.

SETUP Step 7: TouchID
TouchID allows you to unlock your iPad with your fingerprint. If you'd like to do this, tap Continue.

SET UP Step 8: Create a Passcode
Please create a passcode to protect your iPad. Do NOT forget your passcode. If you forget your passcode, you could disable your iPad and will have to erase it.

SET UP Step 9: Enter Your Managed AppleID
Note: You must use the Managed Apple ID that was assigned to you to set up the iPad. Using your
personal Apple ID on the school supplied iPad is a violation of Mid-Pacific's Acceptable Use Policy
(AUP).
Next, sign in with your Managed Apple ID
1. Enter your Managed Apple ID (the account that ends with @id.midpac.edu) and password. 2. Tap Next.

SETUP Step 9a: (OPTIONAL) Verification Code
(OPTIONAL) If prompted, enter the 6-digit verification code that was provided to you.

SETUP Step 9b: Create a Password
Re-enter the temporary Managed Apple ID password that was provided to you

SETUP Step 9c: Create a New Password
Next, create a NEW password. Write it down or store it in a password manager so you can refer back to it if needed.

Enter the new password again to verify it.

SET UP Step 10: Location Services
Location services allows devices to be found when lost. Tap Enable Location Services.

SET UP Step 11: Appearance
Tap Continue.

SET UP Step 12: New Apps Will Download Automatically
School provided apps will begin downloading. Please be patient as this could take some time to complete.
Click Dismiss after reading the Edit Home Screen information.

SET UP Step 13: Mid-Pacific approved apps
Mid-Pacific approved apps will automatically be installed to your iPad. There may additional apps available in the "Self-Service" app.
You have now completed the initial iPad Set Up. Continue on to set up your Mid-Pacific Institute email account.

EMAIL SET UP
Let's set up your student email account. To begin email setup, tap on the Email icon with a picture of a letter.

Tap Google

Enter Email Credentials
1. Enter your Mid-Pacific email address 2. Tap Next.
Enter Your Password
1. Enter your Mid-Pacific email password. 2. Tap Next.

Turn on Gmail Services
Set the slider to green for Mail, Contacts, Calendars and Notes.
Tap Save.
Email Success!
Open the Mail app

Your email will begin downloading and is now configured and ready to use.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Restarting and Resetting an iPad
If something isn’t working, try restarting iPad, forcing an app to close, or resetting iPad.
Restart iPad: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears. Drag the slider to turn off iPad. To turn iPad back on, hold down the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Force an app to close: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button on top of iPad for a few seconds until a red slider appears, then hold down the Home button until the app closes.
If you can’t turn off iPad or if the problem continues, you may need to reset iPad. This should be done only if turning iPad off and on doesn’t resolve the problem.
Reset iPad: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Shutdown iPad: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears. Drag the slider to turn off iPad.
