Anything else? Informational booths on health care, fitness, nutrition, and personal health programs.

Want to give back? Bring your canned items to the Food Bank of Central North Carolina at the Expo or donate blood to the American Red Cross during the Expo!

Provides do-it-yourself tips to eating healthier and living more mindfully. The 15-week course registration fee is only $30.00. If you complete 10 of the 15 sessions, $25 will be refunded directly to you.

Postdoc Health Insurance Eligibility

New regulations for Postdocs are found at http://www.ncsu.edu/policies/research/research_admin/REG10.10.8.php

Postdocs must work at least a .75 FTE to be eligible for the Postdoc health insurance.


SPA/EPA Benefits Eligibility

State Health Plan Dependent Eligibility Verification

Applies to anyone who covers spouse or children on the State Health Plan. Who is Eligible?• A legal spouse

• An unmarried child under age 26 including natural, legally adopted, foster children, children for whom the employee is a court-ordered guardian and stepchildren of the employee,

• An unmarried child who is physically or mentally incapacitated, to the extent that he or she is incapable of earning a living, and such handicap developed prior to the dependent’s 26th birthday.



-Secova is the vendor selected by the State Health Plan

-Employees must respond to Secova with documentation by October 15, 2010

-Employees that fail to respond will have their dependents’ coverage terminated effective 7/1/10

Phased Retirement Program Notifications

Phased Retirement Program (PRP)• Allows eligible tenured faculty to receive retirement

benefits and work part-time for NC State on a three-year academic contract.

• Tenured faculty who qualify will receive a letter from the Provost extending an opportunity to participate in the Phased Retirement Program.


NCFlex Annual EnrollmentOctober 4-29, 2010

• Over-the-counter medications are no longer covered in the Health Care Flexible Spending Account

• Flexible Spending Account users will be allowed to carry over unused balances for an additional 21/2 months into the next plan year

• No Evidence of Insurability required for enrollment into the low option Cancer Plan or Critical Illness Plan.

• Cancer Plan is offering LifeStrive (a new wellness benefit) for those in the high & premium plans.

Workers’ Compensation Forms – Reminders• Make sure all Forms are submitted to EHS and

Leave Administration in a timely fashion.• Supervisor must complete the Form 19 and First

Report of Injury – NOT the employee.• If injury/accident does occur and the employee is

injured, make sure they are provided with the Medical Authorization Form.

Return To Work Notes• Employees returning from continuous leave for their

own medical condition must present a return to work note prior to resuming their job duties.

Postdoc Leave Accruals • New Postdoc Scholars Regulation (REG 10.10.8)

were issued on June 28, 2010.• Postdocs now earn 12 annual days and 12 sick days

each year.• A maximum of 24 days of annual leave can be carried

over from one year to the next. • Does not convert or carry over if Postdoc

subsequently accepts EPA or SPA position.• Other Provisions – FMLA, Shared Leave, Family
