RoleCanadian Tire’s goal was to replicate online the customer focused and consistent buying experience that its 440 retail stores are renowned for providing, and to take electronic retailing to the next level.Cap Gemini Ernst & Young (CGE&Y) was the overall system integrator for Canadian Tire Online. CGE&Y provided a wide range of integrated services, including program management, creative design (DareStep), supply chain expertise, and system development, integration and operation. We hosted components of CTR Online and supported a series of exciting new enhancements to the business. CGE&Y also integrated a number of leading-edge and legacy technologies to provide seamless end-to-end capabilities for CTR Online, including content management, merchandising, payment, fulfillment, replenishment and customer service. At the core of CTR Online, CGE&Y implemented the Blue Martini Customer Interaction System, known for its state of the art e-merchandising functionality.

ClientIkea, founded in Sweden in 1943, has home furnishing stores all over Europe. Around 50,000 employees working in 100 stores. Most of the stores are operated on a franchisee basis.

RoleCGEY developed an integrated toolbox to support advertising, sales, marketing and general business information. The integrated information bank (toolbox) had to be available to the stores in each country. Six specific boxes were developed to contain material for: pictures, videos, marketing communication, store, general information and Ikea ideas. This to reinforce brand integrity on a global basis, to integrate pricing, image and copy information, the reuse of up to date material.

ClientAgrimarket chain stores in Finland provide the agricultural community with a host of fertiliser, lime, pesticides and silage preservatives, seeds, feeds, grain trade and farm implements.

RoleCGEY developed an intranet site for Agrimarket, which enabled them to be the leader in reaching all consumers in rural areas. CGEY created a intranet site that would link the farming community and the Agrimarket stores as a “digital marketplace”. ClientKijkshop an exclusive Dutch retailer, offers a broad assortiment of gift articles to shoppers through innovative store formulas. Kijkshop store display cases feature what is on offer then customer selections are picked directly from the Kijkshop warehouse. Also on-line shopping is possible.

RoleCGEY developed and deployed an internet portal, offering on-line gift selection. The web based shop was developed around controllability and scalability offering every client a tailor-made website. For Kijkshop this is a new sales channel. The simplicity of the concept makes it flexible. Kijkshop now possesses a solution, “self-managed” with which it can enter the Business-to-Business market.

ClientPuig Beauty & Fashion Group is a multinational group with a number of companies in Europe and the US. The organisation is split in three: fagrances and personal care, fashion and prestige beauty brands

RoleCGEY Darestep team in Spain developed a chic new and sexy website. It was their mission to creat a new online image that would bring together the new corporate brand and all the sub-brands into one digital environment. The website was developed using Darestep’s own accelerated program methodology, which is to prepare the design within one week and have a clickable prototype within one month of the launch of the project.

International SPAR

ClientThe SPAR organisation is represented in as many as 30 countries worldwide with around 16,000 shops operating under SPAR franchise. The names of the shop formulas used are SPAR EXPRESS, SPAR, EUROSPAR and INTERSPAR and together these shops generate a turnover in excess of €25 billion.

RoleCGEY implemented Microsoft.NET technology (Intra.NET) to update and maintain the SPAR intranet. SPAR wanted to implement an intranet which enables the franchisers to react on international packaging, exchange information, communicate about the house style and guidelines, promote commitment and cooperation between the SPAR members and external parties.

RoleCGEY developed the portal Albert.nl which was conceived as the hub that would both unite different parts of the Ahold group and provide a link between front-end consumer purchasing and back-end fulfillment. It has to attract online shoppers who order their day-to-day shoppingnot only groceries but also alcoholic beverages (Gall & Gall), personal care (ETOS), etc.

ADORNIS.com

ClientAdornis.com is an Irish jewellery start up which serves the market only through internet.

RoleCGEY suggested an “integrate, don’t build” approach and selected a leading package mail-order fulfillment application, which was integrated with an Oracle based webstore. The webstore was live and stable within 12 weeks and provided an unstructured start up organisation with a mature and structured operational framework.

ClientCarrefour is one of the largest retailers in the world. They have 9200 stores in 30 countries, 3 leading formulas: hard discount, supermarkets and hypermarkets, employee around 350,000 people worldwide.

RoleCGEY was part of a wider e-Commerce website design and implemented the back-office system based on Oracle Applications. The client’s objective was to sell books, CDs, DVDs, games and other stuff online. CGEY performed the integratino of the back office with the front system and their Logistics partner’s system.

VENDEX KBB - Bijenkorf

ClientThe leading retailer in The Netherlands. Vendex KBB is the holding company of Bijenkorf, Hema, Vroom & Dreesmann, DIY stores, specialty goods stores, etc. Bijenkorf is the luxury department store.

RoleCGEY performed an E-strategy study for Bijenkorf, which outlined the way forward regarding clients, one-to-one customer service, assortment, logistic service levels, technology infrastructure and access channels, including the impact on the organisation and future profitability. CGEY realised the web front-end, fully integrated with the back-end systems. CGEY currently manages the e-commerce organisation and coordinates all business processes involved.

MAKRO

ClientMakro Cash & Carry belongs to the German Metro AG Group. Makro has 7 cash-and-carry stores in The Netherlands which services both food and non-food. Metro AG has 400 Makro and Metro stores in 20 European countries and employees 225,000 people.

RoleCGEY helped Makro to create Makro online - to be leading in the cash-and-carry online shopping. CGEY first scoped and designed the organisation to support the new entity. In the development phase CGEY implemented packages from different providers. CGEY also provide the interfaces between the existing ERP systems and the eStore to process the online orders.

C1000

ClientC1000 is one of the supermarket brands of Schuitema and Schuitema is part of the global AHOLD Group. C1000 has 500 stores in The Netherlands.

RoleC1000 needed a new electronic channel, wanted to gain knowledge on e-Business, to learn more about customer behaviour. CGEY designed and implemented a web-based channel called the C1000 Intrashop. A pilot took place within the CGEY organisation.

ClientYuno was the first virtual supermarket in The Netherlands. Combined efforts from FMCG companies like Unilever, Sara Lee and e-Commerce companies made this happen.
