OUR STORY SO FAR...

Technology is problem-solving. The very first time people pushed a heavy load up a ramp, they were using technology to solve a problem. As our problems become more complex, so too does our technology. Finding solutions for what we’re likely to face in the future means training a generation of thinkers and makers, right now.

But problem-solving requires more than just thinking. It requires creativity. A bit of elbow grease. Mixing the cutting-edge with some old-fashioned hands-on mucking about.

Our mission is to combine the power of play with the possibilities of technology, empowering kids - and the adults who love them - with the confidence and skills to create the future. (Why dream small?)

And we do this by creating toys that are actually technology kids build and code themselves.

THE JOURNEY OF TECH WILL SAVE US

Technology Will Save Us is the realized vision of its founders, Bethany and Daniel. As parents, makers and educators, they saw the possibility of combining play and

having fun with learning hugely important technology skills. So they made it their mission to make this a reality, not just for their own kids but children everywhere.

It all started, as so many good ideas do, around the kitchen table, and the creation of the first DIY kit. Which won awards and attracted the attention (and money) of companies like Google and NESTA. And then things became interesting. Building a mini-factory. Hiring. More hiring. A lot more hiring. Selling in over 87 countries.

From that single DIY kit Technology Will Save Us has grown into a wide range of products designed for a variety of age groups, that tap into a wealth of different skill sets. More importantly, the kits are priced to be accessible to the widest possible audience. Technology is democratic and to get the future we want, everyone needs to be involved.

In May 2015 we popped up in Selfridges, LDN UK. We created an interactive, hands-on tech maker space on the shop floor where young people & parents could engage & learn about our kits.

The pop-up stocked all of our kits showing the full eco-system of the range and accommodated for all ages and abilities.

The pop-up was scheduled to last for 6 weeks but has been extended after positive sales results and feedback from customers.

Learnings from this pop-up informed the packaging upgrade we completed in summer 2015.

For New York Design Week 2015 MoMA Design Store asked us to design the window of their two Manhattan stores as part of a focus on London technology and innovation.

In addition to Tech Will Save Us kits featured in the windows, there were bespoke branded fixtures in store, shop floor workshops and a party for 500 press to celebrate London Tech at New York Design Week.

We began selling with MoMA Design Store in May 2014 and after a successful launch our DIY Gamer Kit was selected for the cover of the MoMA Design Store’s Spring 2015 catalogue. After successful catalogue sales the DIY Gamer had been reselected for the Fall 2015 catalogue with the additions of two more of our kits.

NEW PACKAGING FOR 2017

GAMER KIT Launching early 2017 the award-winning Gamer Kit has had a box refresh! The improved packaging significantly increased sell-through in store pilots and the removal of the flap has allowed resellers to spider-tag the box without hindering the view through the window.

SIDE PANEL Get excited about the Tech Will Save Us world, invent the future and share our mission to inspire kids everywhere with hands-on technology.

FRONT We’ve increased the height of the box whilst maintaining the same depth and width. The greater surface area allows for more ‘why buys’ and moving the product vitals to the front of the box.
