The FMA group provides advice to official and financial institutions on issues emanating from the financial crisis, management of complex assets and M&A due diligence. • Entrepreneurial: Launched Valuation and Risk Assessment (VRA) Business. During the financial crisis, I co-led the launch of the VRA business within FMA to help official and financial institutions understand the complexity of their distressed portfolios and to assess options for resolution (wind-down, disposal, re-structure). Served in a leadership capacity on many of FMA’s landmark assignments including analyzing and structuring the Federal Reserve's rescue vehicles for Bear Stearns and AIG, assessing the Greek banking system to help secure emergency financing, and advising official and financial institutions in the US, UK and across Europe, primarily related to bank recapitalizations, bank asset protection schemes, portfolio strategy and disposition and valuation and risk assessment of large scale portfolios. Significant transaction, capital markets, and financial system analysis experience • Maiden Lane III (AIG Bailout) Transaction. Co-led an engagement that advised the NY Federal
Reserve on the structuring of the $80 billion Maiden Lane III facility. The advice consisted of a liquidity drawdown analysis on AIG-FP’s CDS on CDO portfolio, potential solutions to AIG’s liquidity issue, and negotiations with bank counterparties.
• Greece Banking System Diagnostic. Responsible for analyzing the Greek bank balance sheets and providing input to the Troika (IMF, ECB and EC) on capital requirements of the Greek banking system, successfully leading to a capital injection of €10 billion. In doing so, I was responsible for supervising a senior team of 30 professionals.
• UK Bank Asset Protection Scheme. Advised Her Majesty’s Treasury on the creation of an Asset Protection Scheme (APS) by analyzing the troubled assets of RBS and Lloyds.
• Dutch Financial System Diagnostic. Team leader in assessing the Dutch banking system and completing the ECB Comprehensive Assessment. The team consisted of over 70 professionals, including advisors, portfolio managers, modelers, and engineers.
• European Bank Bailouts. Advised official institutions in Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, and Ireland on
providing financial support to its member institutions by analyzing bank balance sheets and reviewing capital positions.
• Eastern Europe Bank Review. Led 12 senior professionals in conducting a banking diagnostic across four jurisdictions in Eastern Europe, including a review of the bank’s troubled assets, distressed operations, financial health, footprint and provisions.
• US Bank Bailouts. Conducted stress tests on 19 Bank Holding Companies in support of the US Treasury’s decision to implement the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP).
Portfolio Management, Trading, Optimization and Advice • Portfolio Liquidations. Developed the auction strategy and led the negotiation with counterparties on
the sale of a $5.1 billion SIV comprised of corporate (bank and other financial institutions) and various structured products.
