Questions for the hiring manager
Transport for NSW 8
Hi Mary, my name is Danielle Rees, I’m calling in relation to the ‘OD Associate role’ advertised on the I work for NSW website. I have a couple of questions about the role. Do you have a few minutes to talk? Thanks. I’ve read the role description and it sounds very interesting, Could you tell me what an average day might look like for someone in this role? What are some of the common challenges faced by someone in this role? Is it a new role or is someone in the team moving on? What are some things that the current person in the role does to be successful? Are there any specific characteristics that you’re looking for in an applicant that aren’t specified on the role description? What are the priorities for the next 6 months and how do you assess if these have been met? Great – thanks so much for your time. I’ll submit my application in the coming days and hope to hear from you soon.
Purpose and parts of a resume
Transport for NSW 9
Parts may include: Contact details Personal summary or Career Objective Key skills Work experience -Name of company, role title, dates worked there -3-4 key achievements for each role -Discuss responsibilities vs achievements Volunteer/community work Education References
Purpose: to give employer a summary of your skills and experiences in relation to the role being advertised. Sometimes an employer will receive up to 300 resumes. They don’t know who you are and they don’t have much time. You have to give them the information they need as efficiently as possible.
