The Netherlands’ Cadastre, Land Registry and Mapping Agency – in short Kadaster – collects and registers administrative and spatial data on property and the rights involved. Various Kadaster COTS applications must be migrated to a Cloud environment.



Role & Activities:

Kadaster exploits a variety of Commercial Off-The-Shelf information systems in the field of financial management, physical access control, document management, credit management, workforce management, and customer relationship management (CRM).The feasibility of migration to an IaaS/PaaS/SaaS Cloud environment needs to be assessed for each of these systems and for each migration the security- and infrastructure-architecture as well as the migration strategy need to be designed and developed. Special care should be dedicated to the design and implementation of secure data-exchange interfaces. Single sign-on is the preferred way of user authentication to the Cloud-based applications.

November 2016 – March 2017BORG | Design & implementation of a "High-End CAD" cloud workplace

Industry: Construction (50+ employees).Role: IT architect cloud, infrastructure & security.Assignment:

BORG is a cooperation between the construction companies BAM Bouw en Techniek, ABT and BAM Advies & Engineering. BORG is aimed at building earthquake resistant new buildings and enhancing existing buildings and structures in the province of Groningen. This consortium has the need for an IT environment where all tools are available that are being used by the engineers, designers and supporting personnel. These tools comprise productivity applications such as Microsoft Office as well as graphically demanding CAD/CAM and BIM applications.

Activities: Design, implement and secure a "Basic" (Citrix XenApp) and "High-End CAD" (Citrix XenDesktop) on-line workplace for all BORG employees. This environment is partially hosted in the Dimension Data Cloud and partially in their Managed Hosting environment. From these environments, an ADFS connection has been implemented with Microsoft Office 365 and Azure Active Directory to provide a seamless single sign-on experience for all users. The Cloud-based workplace has been designed and implemented with 24*7*365 availability in mind and can be accesses from every location and every device. Point of entry for this workplace is a secure web portal where all applications and information used by the BORG employees can be found and accessed. A comprehensive Self Service environment built on the RES ONE Service Store product has been added to the user’s workplace to support all user- and administrator-requests such as secured, automated application deployment and access and fast user on/off-boarding.

June 2016 – January 2017VolkerWessels BVGO | Design and implementation of Self Service portal

Industry: Construction (15,000+ employees).Role: IT infrastructure & security architect.Assignment:

VolkerWessels has an employee base of 15.000+ employees and consists of more than 100 operating companies. VolkerWessels is active within the market sectors Construction & Estate, Infrastructure and Energy & Telecommunications. One of the largest operating companies, VolkerWessels BVGO, has the wish to provide end-users and administrators with an easy-to-use and comprehensive Self Service environment that is securely accessible via a single sign-on web-based portal.



Activities: Perform an inventory of the required features, make an estimate of the effort involved for each request and prioritize these according to the preference of VolkerWessels BVGO. Map the organizational processes and information flows that these request will support. Technically and functionally design a secure Self Service portal (RES ONE Service Store and RES ONE Automation) in Microsoft Azure. Direct and assist in the implementation. Provide technical and architectural guidance throughout the project.After the project was finished the Self Service service offers 80+ requests with which the user (if applicable after the manager’s automated approval) is able to securely reset his/her password, request access to a variety of applications and data shares, change or request his/her information in Active Directory / Office 365s and request multiple other services the user previously needed to manually contact the Service Desk for. Furthermore, multiple requests have been built for IT administrators and managers to provide them with services such as fully automated role-based on- and off-boarding of employees. The automation tasks underlying these requests are in part based upon RES building blocks but mostly on PowerShell scripts performing automated actions in Active Directory, Microsoft Office 365, Citrix VDI, Cisco ACS REST API, etc.

March 2016 – June 2016Intertrust Group | RES Workspace migration

Industry: Trust, Fund and Corporate Financial Services (1,800 employees).Role: IT infrastructure architect.Assignment:

Intertrust Group is a publicly traded international trust and corporate management company based in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Within Intertrust RES Workspace is being used for workspace management of the VDI desktops which are used by most of the employees worldwide.

Activities: Infrastructure- and security-design, preparation and lead the migration of the current RES Workspace environment to RES ONE Workspace 2015 SR1. A new RES Workspace environment was implemented and all currently used building blocks were migrated whilst making sure that the current RES ONE Automation environment kept on working seamlessly with this new RES Workspace environment. After preparation and extensive testing, migration was performed on a country by country basis thereby making sure that no interruption of user productivity occurred.

February 2016 – April 2016Nictiz (IT infrastructure architect) – Design, implementation and optimisation of an on-line (Cloud) workplace

Company: Nictiz | Construction (50+ employees).Role: IT Cloud architect.Assignment:

Nictiz (National Health Care ICT Institute) is de Dutch national knowledge centre for application of ICT within health care organizations. NICTIZ needs an independent IT working environment in which all of the tools and productivity applications are available that are used by their employees.

Activities: Design, implementation and optimization of an online workplace (Citrix XenApp published applications) for the employees of Nictiz. This environment is hosted in the Dimension Data Cloud. Federation using ADFS was implemented towards Microsoft Office 365 and Azure Active Directory to support SSO from Active Directory. The on-line workplace is accessible via a secure and uniform web portal and designed in such a manner that it is available 24/7, from any location and accessible from any device. A comprehensive Self Service portal based on RES Service Store is part of the virtual workplace and available for all users and administrators.

November 2015 – January 2016Project Zuidasdok / ZuidPlus (IT infrastructure architect) – Advising, realizing and testing of online (Cloud) workplace

Company: Project Zuidasdok / ZuidPlus | Construction (100+ employees).Role: IT infrastructure architect.Assignment:

Advise on and realization of an optimum (virtual) workplace for the employees of construction combination Zuidasdok / ZuidPlus. The underground tunnelling of highway A10 and the realization of a new station Amsterdam Zuid is carried out by the combination of construction companies Heijmans, Fluor and Hochtief. The job worth €990 million is one of the largest infrastructure projects at this time in the Netherlands. The project baptized ZuidPlus includes to partly underground and widen ring road A10 and extend and customize station Amsterdam Zuid.



Activities: In technical and functional areas advise on the construction of the (virtual) workplace based on Citrix XenApp. Preparation of the technical and functional test scenarios. Coordinate and carry out the testing and advising how issues and bottlenecks can be removed.

August 2015 – October 2015Tele2 Nederland (migration architect) – Windows Active Directory migration and consolidation

Company: Tele2 | Telecommunications (1001-5000 employees).Role: Migration architect.Assignment:

The Dutch Tele2 Windows Active Directories must be integrated with the new global Windows domain. This means that all business applications (± 250), servers (± 350), appliances, printers, etc. need to be migrated to a new Active Directory environment.

Activities: Create a high-level cost estimation and identify the resources needed to perform this migration as well as the establishment of a workable planning. This required carrying out an inventory of the existing applications and servers and the infrastructure services that are hit by this migration. Inventory and analysis of the IAM infrastructure (IBM Tivoli Identity Manager, Softerra Adaxes Identity Management Solution, Active Directory) and creation of a phased migration plan.

April 2014 – July 2015SAAone (IT infrastructuur architect) – Analyse and optimize Cisco FlexPod IT infrastructure

Company: SAAone | Construction (250+ employees).Role: IT infrastructure architect.Assignment:

Commissioned by the Dutch Department of Public Works (Rijkswaterstaat - RWS) consortium SAAone realizes highway project A1/A6. The project is part of road extension Schiphol – Amsterdam – Almere and is carried out by a consortium comprised of construction companies VolkerWessels, Boskalis, Hochtief, and DIF.SAAone uses a Cisco FlexPod-based virtual ICT infrastructure to support the employees and project staff through Citrix XenApp published applications. Remote locations along highways A1/A6 are connected to the SAAone network via radio relay.Implementation of NEN ISO 27001 security measures and preparation of audits.

Activities: Allow new projects (tenants) to be created quickly with a logically separate ICT infrastructure using Cisco UCS Director and RES IT Store / Automation Manager. Perform inventory and documentation of the existing ICT infrastructure. Optimise the current environment using PerfMon and PAL. October 2012 – March 2014DELA (Lead IT architect) - VDI desktop migration and upgrade office automation environment

Company: DELA (via Simac) | Insurance (1001-5000 employees).Role: Lead IT architect.Assignment:

The DELA office automation systems will be upgraded, virtualized, centralized and optimized. The DELA workstations are migrated to the Simac Cloud (VDI) environment. The supporting services and systems (Active Directory, domain trusts, security, App-V, SCCM, McAfee, NetScaler VPN, RES Workspace Manager) must be designed and implemented. Roll-out of the new Cloud-based workplace (available from laptops, desktops and thin clients) will have to be performed in all 50+ locations.



Activities: Drawing up the migration and upgrade design for the DELA office automation systems Active Directory, Exchange, File & Print, infrastructure services DNS, DHCP and time services.Design and preparation of the migration of the 1000 + DELA thin client workstations to the Simac Cloud-based VDI's running Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2. In collaboration with the Security Officer of the customer develop the security design of the environment (incl. BitLocker-based disk encryption for laptops). Organising and developing the SCCM-based deployment for ±700 laptops.Performing Active Directory assessments and solving the bottlenecks followed by an upgrade, migration and virtualization of Active Directory. Redesign and migration of time services, DNS and DHCP. Simac is the new IT hosting partner of DELA. An IT management transition and a data center migration of the KPN data centers to the Simac Cloud environment must be performed including all 200+ servers, applications and databases in all OTAP streets.

Activities: Architect and get agreement on the migration strategy for the transition of the 200+ DELA systems (office automation, application and database servers) to the Simac Cloud environment. Set up a Shadow and Test environment. Plan, prepare for, document and participate in the (Big Bang) migration.
